College Football Straight-Up Moneyline Upset Alerts Week 7
Memphis at Temple +155
It sounds ludicrous to go against a 5-0 SU team that’s also 4-1 ATS, but that’s what we’re doing if we decide to back the Temple Owls at +155. There are reasons to like the Owls in this matchup. First, they get rival Memphis at home. Second, Temple’s allowing 19.2 points per while averaging 39.8. The Owls can upset the favored road squad in this matchup.
Maryland at Purdue +165
This past Saturday, Maryland broke a 2-game losing streak with a 48-7 win over Rutgers. Although the Terps looked good facing an awful team, it’s hard to get too excited about their chances of beating an okay home team in the Purdue Boilermakers in Week 7. Purdue is on a 3-game losing streak. The Boilers should end that streak soon. They did cover, albeit by half a point, on the road versus Penn State on Oct. 5. Maryland is a much, much softer squad than the Nittany Lions. Purdue has a real shot of taking down the Terps as the home dogs in this.
Washington State +130 at Arizona State
ASU bounced out of their shocking 31-34 loss to Colorado with a nice 24-17 win over California on the road in their last. The Sun Devils have a very good defense. Unfortunately for them, they face one of the top offenses in the Pac 12 on Saturday. Washington State heads into this matchup off a 2-game losing streak. They also head to Tempe off a bye. Expect the Cougars to come out with more fire than they’ve shown all season long. They can upset the Devils.
Baylor has played like one of the better teams in the Big 12. However, the Bears are due for a letdown after a massive 31-12 win over Kansas State on the road in their last. Texas Tech isn’t a great team. They did beat Oklahoma State 45-35 on Oct. 5. The win could signal that the Red Raiders have turned it around. Expect Texas Tech to have a shot at winning this in the fourth quarter.
Penn State at Iowa +160
Undefeated Penn State has looked every bit like the only team in the Big Ten that can challenge Ohio State. Iowa couldn’t get past Michigan in Ann Arbor this past Saturday. The Hawkeyes only yielded 10 points, though. It won’t be easy, but with their defense playing at a high-level, Iowa has a major shot to hand the Nittany Lions their first loss of the season.
Washington at Arizona +210
The Huskies have only played 6 games. Already they have a couple of losses. Sounds crazy, but Arizona might add a third loss on Oct. 12. Since losing to Hawaii in Week 1, the Wildcats have won four in a row. Arizona’s defense is much, much better than it was last season while the offense has also improved. If this game was in Seattle, the Huskies would get the call. Because Zona gets to bear down on Washington in Tucson, AZ gets the nod.
