College Football Week 13 Upset PicksJosh Bailey
Minnesota, fresh off of a terrific losing effort against one of the best teams in the country, Ohio State, travel to Nebraska to take on another Big Ten powerhouse while Notre Dame struggles to save their season against Louisville.
In the other top upset pick for Week 13, Stanford battles California on the road.
Analyzing My College Football Week 13 Upset Picks
Minnesota Golden Gophers at No. 19 Nebraska Cornhuskers
When: Saturday, Nov. 22 at 12:00 pm ET
Betting Line: Nebraska -10.5
Analysis: The betting line is way off. There is no way that Nebraska should be a 10.5 points favorite over Minnesota. Not after Minnesota showed what it’s capable of doing against Iowa two weeks ago, where the Golden Gophers thumped the Hawkeyes 51 to 14, and last week when losing to Ohio State 24 to 31 as a +11.5 point home dog.
Minnesota is a solid team. The Gophers average 223.7 yards per game on the ground. That will be the deciding factor because even though Nebraska rushes for 264 yards per game on the ground, the Black Shirts give up 169.5 yards per game via the rush.
Nebraska’s defense allowed a single Wisconsin player, Melvin Gordon, to rush for 408 yards off of only 25 attempts. What? Really? Yep. That’s Nebraska’s defense.
College Football Week 13 Upset Pick: Minnesota
Louisville Cardinals at Notre Dame Fighting Irish
When: Saturday, Nov. 22 at 3:30 pm ET
Betting Line: Notre Dame -3.5
Analysis: The wheels are off at Notre Dame. Losing to Arizona State and Florida State is one thing, but the Irish dropped a game against Northwestern in double overtime as a -17.5 point home favorite.
That’s right, Notre Dame lost to Northwestern in South Bend. Notre Dame is now 0 and 3 against the spread in their last 3 games. Everett Golson threw another interception against Northwestern and the Irish lost 3 fumbles. For the season, Golson has thrown 12 interceptions. Not only that, but he might be hurt.
Hey, that could help the Irish, right?

Sure, but let’s be honest with ourselves. Golson is likely to play this Saturday. Poor Everett faces one of the top ball hawking defenses in college football. Expect Louisville to force at least 2 turnovers, possibly 3 in this game. That should be enough for the Cardinals to pull off the upset win.
College Football Week 13 Upset Pick: Louisville
Stanford Cardinal at California Golden Bears
When: Saturday, Nov. 22 at 4:00 pm ET
TV: FOX Sports 1
Betting Line: Stanford -5.5
Analysis: Both of these teams are 5 and 5 straight up, yet Stanford, the away team, is favored by 5.5 points? It is true that Stanford’s defense continues to excel, the Cardinal is ranked in the Top 10 in the following defensive categories: total yards allowed, passing yards allowed, rushing yards allowed, and points allowed, but the team still has 5 losses.
What it tells football handicappers is that Stanford just isn’t very good on offense. That’s in contrast to California, which has one of the best offenses in all of football. The Golden Bears average 496.6 yards and 40 points per game.
Sure, California’s defense is absolutely terrible, 518 yards and 39.7 points allowed per matchup, but trying to outscore California will not be easy and that’s pretty much the only way to beat the Golden Bears. They could upset Stanford and give the Cardinal yet another loss on the season.
