Welcome to College Football Week 2! My last week’s over/under betting predictions went 4-5. After seeing all the teams play for the first time this season, I am back with my College Football Week 2 over/under total points scored predictions.
College Football Week 2 Over/Under Predictions
Friday, Sep. 6
Wake Forest at Rice: 55 ½
Wake Forest has an excellent offense. Any time you can hang 38 onto a team like Utah State with 9 returning starters, your offense can score. Rice likes to slow things down. Unfortunately for them, they’ll have to seriously pick it up once they’re down 21-0 in the first quarter. Over.
Saturday, Sep. 7
Army at Michigan: 48
Army rushes the football while Michigan won’t force the issue. If the Black Knights get their rushing attack going, they’ve got a shot to upset Michigan. Even if they don’t, this should be an under game.
Rutgers at Iowa: 50 ½
The Scarlet Knights scored a ton of points against UMass, 48. Iowa has one of the better defenses in the Big Ten. At least, after one game it certainly seems that way. This game projects to go under the total. Although both teams can score, Iowa’s defense is much too stout for Rutgers to get more than 14.
Central Michigan at Wisconsin: 52 ½
Wisconsin dominated South Florida by 49 points in Week 1. The Badgers’ offensive line certainly doesn’t look like it will have trouble opening holes for Jonathan Taylor. Central Michigan scored 38 against Albany. Central Michigan won’t touch 38, but Wisconsin should score at least over 40, which means this one goes over.
New Mexico State at Alabama: 65
The Crimson Tide will score at will versus a New Mexico State team that seemed to give up the ghost in a terrible 7 to 58 loss to Washington State. The problem with going over is that Bama could shutout NMSU. Will Saban really try to score 65 points against an opponent? Probably not. Under is the play.
UL-Monroe at Florida State: 62 ½
What was up with that vaunted Florida State defense? The Seminoles allowed Boise State to beat them 36-31 even though FSU held a 31-19 lead. Florida State won’t keep UL-Monroe off the board while they should score plenty of points. Still, the Warhawks aren’t nearly as talented as the Boise State Broncos. Here’s another Week 2 under game.
Buffalo at Penn State: 54
Penn State’s offense was like a machine this past Saturday. It pummeled Idaho to the tune of 79 points. The Nittany Lions might get the over by themselves in this one.
Arkansas at Ole Miss: 57 ½
Who knows why this total is so high when neither one of these SEC teams likes to move the ball particularly fast. Arkansas only beat Portland State 20-13 while Ole Miss lost 10-15 to Memphis. Jump on the under before it skydives by 10 points.
Nevada at Oregon: 63
On paper, this looks like an over game if there ever was one. Oregon managed to score 21 points versus the Auburn Tigers. Auburn has one of the better defenses in college football. Nevada beat Purdue 34-31.
This one looks like it should go over. And it will go over. Nevada won’t stop the Ducks, who will try to score a TD on every possession because, well, they’re angry they let Auburn back in the game in Week 1.
