College Football Week 5 Five ? Lock PicksJosh Bailey
There are a few great bets to be made in College Football Week 5. The point spreads in some of the matchups imply that teams are much better than their opponents. UCLA is a huge -13 home favorite over Arizona State while Oregon is a -9 favorite on the road against Colorado. Louisiana Tech is a big -18 point favorite against the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.
Perhaps one of the more intriguing lines is No. 6 Notre Dame at No. 12 Clemson. Notre Dame has proven that it can survive without its starting QB and best running back. Will the Irish finally give up its ninth life this Saturday?

A Closer Look At My College Football Week 5 Five ? Lock Picks
Western Kentucky (-8) at Rice
Rice allowed Baylor to rack up 70 points in a 17 to 70 whipping in their last. Baylor racked up close to 800 total yards versus the Owls in that game. This includes 427 rushing yards and 366 passing yards. Western Kentucky doesn’t have the offense that Baylor has.
The Hilltoppers do have a seriously talented QB in Brandon Doughty. Doughty is coming off of his best game yet. He threw for 457 yards when completing 80.5% of his passes against Miami-Ohio. He tossed 6 touchdown passes. The Hilltoppers will have no trouble moving the ball against Rice. They should cover the spread in this matchup.
Arizona State at No. 7 UCLA (-13)
UCLA beat Arizona 56 to 30 as a -1 point road favorite in their last game. The Bruins’ defense shut down a high-flying Arizona offense. More importantly, QB Josh Rosen completed 67.9% of his passes and threw 2 touchdowns and no interceptions. Arizona State’s much balley-hooed defense depends on blitzes in order to pressure offenses. Rosen is too good against blitzes to fall for that.
The Bruins also have an excellent rushing game with Paul Perkins. UCLA ran up the score when dropping 62 on the Sun Devils last season. They probably won’t score 62 in this game, but getting over 50 again is very possible.
No. 6 Notre Dame at No. 12 Clemson – Pick’em
Notre Dame has done well with serious injuries so far this season. The Irish came back and beat a tough Virginia team on the road after QB Malik Zaire went down. RB C.J. Prosise has filled in nicely for Tarean Folston. But all of it could come crashing down this Saturday. The Notre Dame offense faces the best defense it is likely to face all season long.
Clemson is allowing only 261 total yards and 12.3 points per game. On offense, the Tigers are averaging 442 total yards and 36.7 points per. Clemson takes this pick’em game at home.
Oregon (-9) at Colorado
The best way to get over a stunning loss, which is what happened to Oregon this past Saturday when Utah beat them 62 to 20, is to play a team like Colorado. The Buffaloes appear to have a solid defense. They are allowing only 341.2 yards and 16.5 points per game. Then, you realize that the Buffs have played Hawaii, UMass, Colorado State and Nicholls State so far this season. It’s likely that QB Vernon Adams returns for Oregon in this. The Ducks will roll.
ULL at Louisiana Tech (-18)
ULL’s defense is allowing 30.7 points per game. The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs are averaging 40 points per game and 522.5 yards per. LA Tech beat ULL 48 to 20 last season. They should beat them by a similar score this season.
Pick: Louisiana Tech
I don’t know how many of you will use 5 College Football week 5 five-star lock picks to cash in big this Saturday, but happy hunting sports fans!
