Expert Picks College Football Week 13

If you love rivalry week and you’re looking to increase your 2017 college football haul, then you’re going to have a great chance to do just that when three longtime rivalry affairs get underway this coming weekend.

Expert Picks College Football Rivalry Week

Iowa Hawkeyes (6-5) at Nebraska Cornhuskers (4-7)
When: 4:00 PM ET, Friday, November 24, 2017
Where: Memorial Stadium, Lincoln, Nebraska
Odds: Iowa -3

Iowa has won two straight and three of the last four meetings Heroes Game rivalry following a five-year winning streak by the Cornhuskers, but that’s not why I like the Hawkeyes to win and cover the chalk in their Week 13 matchup this year. No, I like Iowa – and so does a convincing 75 percent of public bettors – simply because they’re the far better team in this contest, particularly on the defensive side of the ball where they give up 14.1 fewer points per game than Nebraska.

The Cornhuskers have allowed at least 54 points in each of their last two games and are 1-4 ATS in their last five meetings against Iowa!

Expert Pick Week 13: Iowa -3

No. 24 Virginia Tech Hokies (8-3) at Virginia Cavaliers (6-5)
When: 8:00 PM ET, Friday, November 24, 2017
Where: Scott Stadium, Charlottesville, Virginia
Odds: Virginia Tech -7

These two ACC rivals first met in 1895 and have played every year since 1970 for the coveted Commonwealth Cup. Unfortunately for the Virginia Cavaliers, however, Virginia Tech has straight dominated by winning 13 straight in this series. For me, I’m a bit stunned that the Hokies are just, slight touchdown favorites and even more surprised that only 53 percent of public bettors like them to win and cover the chalk. Virginia Tech is by far, the better team in all three phases of the game as they average 4.5 points per game more than their longtime rivals while limiting the opposition to just under two touchdowns less per game defensively.

Virginia has lost two straight and four of five and will lose this one by double digits despite being at home!

Expert Pick Week 13: Virginia Tech -7

Texas Tech Red Raiders (5-6) at Texas Longhorns (6-5)
When: 8:00 PM ET, Friday, November 24, 2017
Where: Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, Austin, Texas
Odds: Texas -10.5

Texas has won two straight and picked up an impressive 28-14 win over a very good West Virginia team last weekend, but really, that’s only because the Mountaineers lost starting quarterback Will Grier in that contest. Texas Tech has lost five of their last six games, but still I have absolutely no idea why the Longhorns are favored to beat the Red Raiders by 10.5 points when Texas Tech averages almost six points per game more than their Big 12 rivals in this matchup and can put points on the board in a hurry.

Texas give up 11.3 fewer points per game than Texas Tech and I do expect the Horns to nail down the home win in this Week 13 matchup, but there’s a reason why a whopping 68 percent of public bettors like the Red Raiders to cover the chalk as double-digit road dogs in this one and it’s because the final score in this one looks way more like a field goal finish than a two-touchdown win for Texas than anything. With the Red Raiders splitting the last two meetings in this Chancellor’s Spurs rivalry and the road team going 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings, I think the call on this one is super simple. Back Texas Tech to cover the chalk with room to spare!
