College Football Week 6 Expert Picks Features Pair of Pac-12 Title Contenders and One Big 12 Championship Hopeful

A pair of Pac-12 title contenders and one SEC championship hopeful will all look to remain unbeaten and keep their playoff hopes alive when they take to the gridiron for their respective Week 6 conference matchups. Now, let’s find out who these teams are and whether they’ll win and cover the college football betting odds in their respective Week 6 matchups.

Expert Picks College Football Week 6

California (3-2) at No. 6 Washington (5-0)
When: Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 12:00 PM ET
Where: Husky Stadium, Seattle, Washington
TV: ESPN
Spread: Washington -27

Analysis: Cal got blasted off the field in their 45-24 loss against now, unranked Oregon on Saturday. While quarterback Ross Bowers was pretty good in completing 23 of 41 passes for 255 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions, the Golden Bears gave up a whopping 328 rushing yards and five rushing TDs in the loss while getting held to a mind-boggling eight rushing yards on 29 carries.

Conversely, No. 6 Washington is making my preseason pick of them both, winning the Pac-12 and reaching the four-team playoff look really good right now. The Huskies smacked Oregon State senseless by scoring 35 second-half points en route to a commanding 42-7 win on Saturday as quarterback Josh Browning threw for 293 yards and three touchdowns while running back Myles Gaskin added 113 rushing yards and one score.

While this nearly four-touchdown spread looks really high, I like Washington to get the SU win and narrow ATS cover behind their pair of Heisman Trophy candidates. Cal is just 1-5 ATS in their last six road games and 0-4 ATS in their last four road games against a team with a winning home record. Washington has gone 4-0 ATS in their last four conference games and 4-1 ATS in their L/5 games against a team with a winning record. Championship-hopeful Washington wins and narrowly covers!

Expert Pick Week 6: Washington -27

No. 6 Georgia (5-0) at Vanderbilt (3-2)
When: Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 12:00 PM ET
Where: Vanderbilt Stadium, Nashville, Tennessee
Spread: Georgia -16.5

Analysis: No. 6 Georgia put on their second straight stellar defensive performance this past weekend by shutting out Tennessee 41-0 just one week after beating Mississippi State 31-3. quarterback Jake Fromm threw for just 84 yards with one touchdown and one interception, but the Bulldogs piled up 294 rushing yards and four scores on the ground led by Nick Chubb’s 109 yards on 16 carries. More importantly, the Bulldogs harassed Tennessee quarterback Quinten into two interceptions while allowing him to throw for just 64 yards. Georgia also limited the SEC rivals to just 62 rushing yards in the statement-making win while forcing four turnovers on the day.

Vanderbilt got smacked around in their 38-24 loss to No. 21 Florida on Saturday despite the fact that quarterback Kyle Shurmur threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns. The Commodores gave up five rushing scores in the loss and scored just seven points in the second half after going into halftime tied at 17.

Georgia is 4-0 ATS in its last four conference games, 5-0 ATS in its last five road games and a blistering 9-1 ATS in its last 10 road games against a team with a winning record. Vanderbilt is just 1-10 ATS in its last 11 home games against a team with a winning road record, but more importantly, the Bulldogs have a seriously dominant defense this year that is going to give Vanderbilt problems in this one. The spread looks a little bit high here, but with the way Georgia has played the last two weeks, I like the Dogs to cover it!

Expert Pick Week 6: Georgia -16.5

No. 11 Washington State (5-0) at Oregon (4-1)
When: Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 12:00 PM ET
Where: Autzen Stadium, Eugene, Oregon
Spread: Washington State -2.5

Analysis: If you didn’t back Washington State to beat USC and cover the spread this past weekend after I predicted both outcomes, then shame on you. The Cougars handed the previously fifth-ranked Trojans a 30-27 loss as quarterback Luke Falk passed for 340 yards with two touchdowns and one pick while running back Jamal Morrow rushed for 91 yards and one score on just six carries to stun the Trojans and cash in as a 5-point home underdog.

Oregon rebounded from its 37-35 Week 4 loss at Arizona State to smack Cal around in its 45-24 Week 5 win this past Saturday and cover the spread as a 17-point home fave. Quarterback Justin Herbert had a modest game b completing 7 of 8 passes for 86 yards and one touchdown, but the Ducks didn’t need much passing as running back Kani Benoit rushed for 138 yards and two scores on 18 carries and fellow back Tony Brooks-James added 76 rushing yards and one touchdown on 16 carries. Overall, the Ducks rushed for 328 yards while limiting Cal to a mind-boggling eight rushing yards on 29 carries.

For this intriguing Week 6 Pac-12 pairing, I’m going to advise you to back Washington State to get their third straight win over Oregon and second straight in Eugene after smacking the Ducks around in their 51-33 blowout win last season.

Washington State has gone 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games following an ATS win and 6-2 ATS in their last eight road games against a team with a winning home record while Oregon has gone 1-7-1 ATS in their last 9 games following a straight-up win and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS win. The Cougars have the better starting quarterback in this matchup and will get the narrow road win and ATS cover because of it – although I will say this matchup has the look of a high-scoring thriller just waiting to happen.

Expert Pick Week 6: Washington State -2.5
