Expert Picks College Football Week 7

The Houston Cougars will look to extend their modest winning streak while the nationally-ranked Oklahoma Sooners look to rebound from one of the biggest upsets this past weekend. Last but not least, Oklahoma State will look to hold it down at home against a Baylor Bears that is winless this season, but one that has made some small improvements since the start of the season.

If you’re looking for Week 7 expert college football picks, then look no further – I have a trio of them just for you!

Expert Picks College Football Week 7

Houston Cougars (4-1) at Tulsa Hurricane(1-5)
When: Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 12:00 PM ET
Where: Chapman Stadium, Tulsa, Oklahoma
TV: ESPNN
Odds: Houston -13

Analysis: Houston clearly made a smart move by naming offensive coordinator Major Applewhite as head coach once Tom Herman took his act to the University of Texas and now the Cougars are succeeding because of it. Houston rolled SMU in its 35-22 Week 6 win to cover the spread as a 10-point home fave while Tulsa got completely obliterated in its 62-28 road loss to Tulane. Cougars’ quarterbacks Kyle Allen and Kyle Postma are both completing over 70.0 percent of their passes, but it is Houston’s stingy defense (16.2 ppg) that has been really getting the job done this season.

Tulsa has been limited to 28 points or less in three straight games and just won’t be able to put enough points on the board to keep up with a Cougars team that has plans on winning the American Athletic Conference this season. Tulsa is just 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning road record while Houston has gone 10-1 ATS in their last 11 road games vs. a team with a losing home record and 20-6-1 ATS in their last 27 road games. This one’s a no-brainer….Houston is my top Week 7 expert pick!

Expert Pick NCAAF Week 7: Houston -13

No. 12 Oklahoma Sooners (4-1) at Texas Longhorns (3-2)
When: Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 12:00 PM ET
Where: Cotton Bowl, Dallas, Texas
TV: ESPN
Odds: Oklahoma -7.5

Analysis: I know the Sooners just ended up on the wrong end of a stunning 38-31 home loss against Iowa State, but that’s one of the main reasons I like them to rebound in a big way to get the road win against a Texas Longhorns team that narrowly got past Kansas State 40-34 in overtime this past weekend. The Sooners are the better statistical team on both sides of the ball and hold a 9-point scoring edge offensive, not to mention the fact that they have a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate in quarterback Baker Mayfield who played well this past weekend despite the Sooners’ loss.

I love the fact that the Sooners have gone a perfect 7-0 ATS in their L/7 games against a team with a winning record and 7-2 ATS in their L/9 games overall while Texas has gone 1-3-1 ATS in its last five conference games. While Oklahoma has gone 0-4 ATS in their last four games against the Longhorns, I think the spread for this matchup, even as a road favorite, is very manageable for a Sooners team that I expect to be far more focused defensively in Week 7 than they were this past weekend. I think Oklahoma’s stunning loss to Iowa State will serve as a wake-up call for the Sooners this coming weekend, which is why I like Baker Mayfield and company to get the double-digit road win to cover the spread.

I am recommending OU as a 5 star Week 7 expert pick.

Expert Pick NCAAF Week 7: Oklahoma -7.5

Baylor Bears (0-5) at No. 14 Oklahoma State Cowboys (4-1)
When: Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 12:00 PM ET
Where: Boone Pickens Stadium, Stillwater, Oklahoma
Odds: Baylor +22.5

Analysis: Baylor may have been on the wrong end of a humbling 33-20 road loss at Kansas State this past weekend, but the Bears have played decent football the last three weeks and I believe they can keep the final score well inside the three-touchdown-plus spread in this contest against an Oklahoma State team that has played solid, but not outstanding football in splitting their last two games and narrowly getting by Texas Tech 41-34 this past weekend.

More importantly, I like Baylor head coach Matt Rhule a lot and I believe it’s only a matter of time before he gets the disgraced gridiron program back on the map after former head coach Art Briles nearly ruined it by letting a bunch of nonsense take place under his charge. Oklahoma State has given up a whopping 78 combined points over their last two games and that tells me that Baylor should be able to put some points on the board to keep the final score well insides three touchdowns.

Despite the fact that they’ve got a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate in quarterback Mason Rudolph, Oklahoma State is just 1-4 ATS in their last five conference games while Baylor has gone 4-1 ATS in their L/5 games against a team with a winning record. Again, despite their winless record, Baylor has improved in a big way since the start of the season and I believe they can cover the chalk against an Oklahoma State team that has been pretty generous defensively this season.

The Bears won’t win, but ATS Baylor is my Week 7 expert pick.

Expert Pick NCAAF Week 7: Baylor +22.5
