The FSU Seminoles entered the season as a top-ten team and the odds on favorite to to capture their fourth straight ACC Championship. While Boston College wasn’t laden with high expectations at season’s start, after handily beating their first two FCS opponents it is time to pay attention. The Eagles scored a stunning 41 points in the first quarter alone in week 2 against Howard. The final score was 76-0. Any time a team can put up 40+ points in a quarter, no matter the opponent, you need to bet on that team.

Why Bet On 9 Florida State (-7.5) to Beat Boston College
Golson continues to run the offense well at QB.
Say what you will about Everett Golson’s turnover issues while at Notre Dame last season. So far, they haven’t come up while playing for Jimbo Fisher and Florida State. Golson has been as good as he was during his first season with the Irish when he led the Golden Domers to a spot in the National Championship Game.
So far in 2015, Golson has completed 64% of his passes for 465 yards. He’s thrown 5 touchdown passes to 0 interceptions. He hasn’t rushed the ball very much. Because of that, he hasn’t scored with his feet yet. The good side of it is that Golson hasn’t fumbled either. If he keeps it up, Florida State could stay in a lot of games this season. Quarterback poise is becoming more and more important in this age of spread formation offenses.
”I think he feels good about it. I think he understands things,” Fisher said Monday during his weekly press conference. ”We just got to continue to get all the little details of things and the nuances of it.”
How will Golson fair versus Boston College? The Eagles have the number one ranked defense in the nation. Even though Boston College has played against two I-AA teams, Maine and Howard, the defense has dominated. BC has allowed a total of 50 yards. The D has allowed an average of 1.5 points per game. Maine could only get a field goal against Boston College’s defense. Golson is going to have to play very well in order for FSU to cover and beat BC.
Why Bet On Boston College to Beat 9 Florida State (-7.5)
Boston College can exploit an overrated defense.
Based on the scoreboard, Florida State’s defense has been absolutely stunning in 2015. FSU allowed only 16 points in Week 1 to Texas State. The Seminoles beat Texas State 59 to 16. In Week 2, FSU’s defense allowed South Florida to score only 14 points in a 34 to 14 Florida State win.
A deeper dig into both games exposes some flaws in the Seminoles’ defense. For example, versus Texas State, the defense gave up 300 total yards. The D also gave up a 4.0 per rush average. Texas State gained 132 yards on the ground from 33 carries. Versus South Florida, the Seminoles’ defense gave up 274 total yards. Once again, Florida State gave up over 4 yards a carry on the ground. South Florida averaged 4.1 yards a carry when rushing for 149 yards from 36 carries.
In last year’s contest between these two, Boston College averaged 4.7 yards per carry on the ground. The defense held FSU to 20 points. If Boston College’s offense can run the football, they’ll have a chance at the upset. I am picking the Eagles to upset the Seminoles straight up, so bet the moneyline. My final score prediction is Boston College 21, Florida State 20.
