Will reeling Florida Show Up Against Superior South Carolina in Week 11 SEC Showdown?
After entering the 2017 college football season with some pretty high hopes, the Florida Gators have seen their current campaign literally disintegrate before their very eyes. Now, the big question that college football bettors need to know is whether or not the once nationally-ranked title hopefuls will even put up an effort in their Week 11 SEC showdown against a clearly superior South Carolina Gamecocks squad.
The Week 11 college football odds favor South Carolina by 7.5-points over Florida. The two longtime conference rivals will throw down on Saturday at 12 noon ET, live from Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia with this matchup airing on CBS.

The Gators have lost four straight, they saw head coach Jim McElwain walk out the door and now, they basically have no hope for anything good under interim head coach Randy Shannon. Notre Dame transfer quarterback Malik Zaire threw for 157 yards and one interception and fellow quarterback Feleipe Franks threw for 98 yards and one score this past weekend, but Florida got smacked around all over the field in their 45-16 Week 10 loss against lowly Missouri after falling to a 28-6 hole at the half they would never recover from. Florida has given up at least 42 points in each of their last two games and hasn’t scored more than 17 points in each of their last four games, so again, they’re in a bad way right now.
Conversely, while South Carolina had their three-game winning streak snapped in their 24-10 road loss against No. 2 Georgia, they actually came out of the game looking pretty good against the powerful second-ranked Bulldogs. South Carolina has limited each of their last eight opponents to 27 points or less and certainly didn’t embarrass themselves in last week’s loss.
The Gamecocks are ranked a modest 93rd in scoring (24.4 ppg), but they’ve been very good defensively in limiting the opposition to just 20.3 points per game to rank 33rd in points allowed nationally. On the flip side of the coin, Florida’s once powerful defense is now giving up 28.4 points per game to rank 77th and the Gators are barely putting points on the board by averaging a modest 20.4 points per contest (114th).
South Carolina has gone an encouraging 3-0-1 ATS over their last four games while Florida has failed to cover the chalk in three straight and six of their last eight games overall. The Gators are also just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games and right now, their 3-1-1 ATS mark in their last five meetings against the Gamecocks doesn’t mean a thing.
South Carolina is a bit desperate to hold on to their slim SEC title hopes and completely better than Florida in all three phases. Go with the 74 percent of public bettors that like the Gamecocks to cover the chalk!
Pick: South Carolina -7.5
