Boston College Looks to be Latest team to Beat Battered Florida State in Week 9 ACC Matchups

The Boston College Eagles will look to become the latest team to take advantage of a Florida State Seminoles team that began the year as the nation’s second-ranked title contender but is now a broken and battered shell of that team. The longtime ACC rivals will throw down at BC Alumni Stadium on Friday at 8:00 PM ET with this contest airing live on ESPN.

Why Bet the Florida State Seminoles Odds at -8

Florida State saw their season irrevocably altered in their regular season opener when talented starting quarterback Deondre Francois was lost for the season due to a torn ACL. The Noles have dropped two of its last three and were on the wrong end of a heartbreaking 31-28 home loss to Louisville this past weekend. Second string quarterback James Blackman passed for 248 yards and two touchdowns but also tossed two costly picks Florida State could not overcome. Florida State is averaging just 19.8 points per game while allowing 22.5 points per contest defensively.

Why Bet the Boston College Eagles Odds at +8

Boston College has won two straight and three of their last four games including a 45-42 win over Louisville two weeks ago and a 41-10 smackdown of Virginia on Saturday. Quarterback Anthony Brown passed for 275 yards and three touchdowns to lead BC to their latest victory. The Eagles are averaging 23.0 points per game while allowing 27.5 per contest defensively.

The Seminoles are 6-1-2 ATS in their last nine games following an ATS loss and 3-1-2 ATS in their last six road games, but just 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games in the month of October. With Boston College going 4-0 ATS in the last four conference games and 6-0 ATS in their last six games following an ATS win, I’m a bit surprised the Eagles are underdogs in this matchup.

More importantly, James Blackman isn’t nearly as skilled as Deondre Francois and it will be that difference that makes Boston College both, win outright and cover the spread in this Week 8 ACC clash as slight home dogs. With everyone else beating up on Florida State, I say, why can’t BC too?

Pick: Boston College +3
