FSU vs Clemson Spread & Betting TipsJosh Bailey
Can Beaten and battered Florida State Cover Huge Spread Against Fourth-Ranked Clemson in Week 11 ACC Matchup?
With once, second-ranked Florida State now a beaten and battered version of the team that kicked off the 2017 season with legitimate national championship hopes, the only question that college football bettors need to answer heading into Week 11 is whether the Seminoles can cover the NCAA football betting spread as two-touchdown plus road dogs against the fourth-ranked Clemson Tigers when they square off in Week 11?
The two longtime ACC rivals will battle on Saturday at Clemson Memorial Stadium on Saturday at 3:30 PM ET with this matchup airing live on ESPN. Now, let’s find out if the Noles can cover the chalk.

Florida State managed to snap its modest two-game skid by beating Syracuse last weekend, but what does it say that the Seminoles are still two-touchdown plus road dogs against Clemson this coming weekend?
I feel bad that Florida State saw their season pretty much go down the drain with the season-ending loss of gifted quarterback Deondre Francois in their regular season opener against Alabama, but it is what it is and there’s no crying in college football.
Florida State got past Syracuse 27-24 last weekend, but the Noles have failed to cover the spread in every single game they’ve played this season, including last week as 7.5-point home favorites against the mediocre Orange!
Backup quarterback James Blackman has been less than average in relief of Francois throwing seven picks this season and just eight TD passes in seven starts. Florida State is averaging just 18.6 points per game under his direction (120th) although they haven’t been too bad in limiting the opposition to just 24.2 points per game defensively (46th).
Clemson won their second straight game last week by getting past NC State 38-31 as quarterback Kelly Bryant passed for 191 yards with one touchdown and one interception while adding 88 rushing yards and two scores on the ground.
While Bryant is clearly not as good as his predecessor Deshaun Watson, he is a very gifted runner and leads the Tigers with 548 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. However, when it comes to passing, Bryant leaves a lot to be desired as his modest seven touchdowns and five picks suggests.
Still, I’m going to urge you to back the Tigers to get the win and ATS cover if only because they have a very powerful defense that is going to harass the hell out of James Blackman and force him into at least two costly turnovers. Clemson is averaging over 14 points per game more than Florida State while giving up 9.1 fewer points per game defensively.
Florida State is 0-5-2 ATS in their last seven conference games and 0-3-2 ATS in their last five games versus a team with a winning record. Clemson has gone 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games following an ATS loss and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against Florida State and I believe the Tigers are going to dial up a special effort in this one to take full advantage of their battered conference rivals.
I’m not really fond of the big spread in this one, but I like Clemson to cover the chalk – narrowly!
Pick: Clemson -16
