Bet The Florida State Seminoles -1 Because…
Florida State (2-0 SU, 1-1 ATS) got another stellar performance from redshirt freshman quarterback Deondre Francois to beat tiny Charleston Southern 52-8 in Week 2. The Seminoles’ young signal-caller completed 25 of 32 passes for 262 yards with three touchdowns and one interception while running back Dalvin Cook rushed 11 times for 83 yards and two scores.
"We didn’t want to focus on who we were playing we wanted to focus on how we were playing," said Francois. That’s typically how we were going to start and we got off to a fast start."
Bet The Louisville Cardinals +1 Because…
Louisville (2-0 SU, 2-0 ATS) got another jaw-dropping performance from quarterback Lamar Jackson to beat Syracuse 62-28 on Friday night in the ACC opener for both teams.
Jackson completed 20 of 39 passes for 411 yards with one touchdown and one interception, but destroyed the Orange with his legs by rushing 21 times for 199 yards and four touchdowns just one week after winning the national offensive player of the week for his performance against Charlotte in the Cardinals’ regular season opener.
Jackson accounted for an insane 610 total yards, the most by a player in a game in ACC history.
"He had a great game," Louisville coach Bobby Petrino said. "What I was most pleased with was how well he prepared for the game. He worked extremely hard all week. He did a great job executing. He threw the ball around and ran real well. He did a great job of everything we asked him to do."
Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction
Florid Stat has the edge in overall roster talent and they have a gifted quarterback in Deondre Francois that looks like a sure-fire NFL performer at some point in the near future.
However, I like Louisville to get the SU win and ATS cover in this Week 3 matchup for three reasons.
First, I expect Lamar Jackson to be the best player on the field in this contest. Second, the Cardinals are playing at home and last but not least, Louisville has a really good head coach in Bobby Petrino, no matter what you may think about him morally.
Florida State has won two straight in this series, but I see no reason why the Cardinals can’t pull off the ‘upset’ at home.
