FSU Looks For First Sin of Season at Dangerous Wake Forest in Week 5 ACC Clash
The Florida State Seminoles entered the 2017 regular season as one of the top contenders to reach the four-team playoff, but are now unranked after losing star quarterback Deondre Francois in their opener. Making matters worse, the Noles will look to get past an unbeaten Wake Forest team that seems to give them problems every time they meet. Now, let’s find out if Florida State can get the road win to cover the college football betting line as a road favorite of just over a touchdown.
Florida State vs Wake Forest College Football Week 5 Odds & Pick
Florida State Seminoles (0-2) at Wake Forest Demon Deacons (4-0)

NCAAF Odds: Wake Forest +7.5

Why Bet the Wake Forest Demon Deacons Odds at +7.5
The Demon Deacons look like a good bet because they have an excellent defense and always give the Seminoles a hard way to go. Wake Forest had a tough time against Appalachian State in Week 4 but manages to escape with a narrow 20-19 win as dual-threat signal-caller in John Wolford completed 14 of 27 passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns while rushing 13 times for an additional 77 yards.
The Demon Deacons also gave up a whopping 372 passing yards in the win and lost the time of possession battle by nearly 10 minutes. Still, Wake Forest has won four of the last 11 meetings and two of their last five road dates against the Seminoles.
Offensively and special-teams wise, we’re doing a pretty good job," said Duke Ejiofor, a defensive end. "Our offense, we have a lot more explosive players, a lot more talent. … Defensively, I think we’re doing well up front. … We’re doing well just staying locked in and following the game plan coach has for us."
Florida State has won five straight in this series, but they narrowly managed to get past Wake last season in their 11-6 home win and I think the chickens are coming home to roost for the Seminoles in this one.
Why Bet the Florida State Seminoles Odds at -7.5
The now, unranked Florida State Seminoles are pretty desperate and that’s a good reason to back them in this contest, not to mention the fact that they’ve got more overall talent.
Florida State fell to 0-2 on the season after losing to North Carolina State 27-21 this past weekend just as I expected as freshman quarterback James Blackman struggled in his first career start by completing just 22 of 38 passes for 278 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. Making matters worse, the Noles were limited to just 104 rushing yards and lost the time of possession battle by almost seven minutes. Florida State is now unranked for the first time since 2011. “We need to make a statement in order to show everyone that we’re not just some scrub team,” guard Cole Minshew said.
FSU vs Wake Forest Week 5 Pick
Wake Forest is giving up just 11.5 points per game (ninth) and putting up an impressive 37.8 points per game (34th) and I’m thinking that’s going to be more than good enough to not only cover the spread against the Noles this weekend but do so by winning outright.
Florida State may be 6-1 ATS in their last seven games following an ATS loss, but Wake Forest has gone 6-0 ATS in their last six games following an ATS loss, 6-1 ATS in their last seven conference games and a near-perfect 5-1 ATS in their last six home games.
Not only that but the home team in this ACC series is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings while the underdog has gone 9-4 ATS in their last 13 meetings. What’s that I smell? Oh yeah, an outright upset brewing!
Pick: Wake Forest +75.
