Bet The Georgia State Panthers at +34 Because…
The Panthers got pounded in their humbling 48-14 Week 2 loss to Air Force while converting just six first downs. Quarterback Conner Manning completed just 8 of 24 pass attempts for 135 yards with one touchdown, but the Panthers failed to score for the game’s final three quarters.
For the season, Manning is completing a modest 51.8 percent of his passes. Defensively, Georgia State is allowing a whopping 39.5 points and 493 yards per game.
Bet The Wisconsin Badgers at -34 Because…
Wisconsin rolled all over Akron in their emphatic 54-10 beatdown of the Zips this past weekend as running back Corey Clement rushed 21 times for 11 yards and two touchdowns.
Quarterback Bart Houston completed 15 of 22 passes for 231 yards and two touchdowns while Wisconsin’s defense kept the Zips off the scoreboard for three of the game’s four quarters.
"We want to do that every week no matter (where) we’re ranked," Clement said. "We have to approach every game as if we’re not in the rankings at all."
Defensively, Wisconsin is allowing a minuscule 12 points and 240.5 yards per game.
Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction
There’s no sense in beating around the bush with my pick on this Week 3 mismatch, seeing as how I fully expect Wisconsin to pound the snot out of the Panthers, likely before halftime.
While the Panthers have gone 7-1 ATS in their last eight road games, Georgia Southern is also jus 1-4 ATS in their last five non-conference games.
Conversely, Wisconsin has gone 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record and a perfect 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
Wisconsin isn’t known for blowing teams out of the water, but I suspect they’ll want to light up the scoreboard in an effort to hopefully convince voters they are worthy of playoff consideration at some point.
