Georgia Tech vs. No. 6 Clemson Odds, Pick & Betting Preview

Georgia Tech Vs #6 Clemson Odds, Pick & Betting Preview

With the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and 6th-ranked Clemson Tigers clearly heading in polar opposite directions as they get set for their ACC Conference showdown on Saturday, there may not be a more value-packed matchup on the entire Week 6 docket.

Georgia Tech is a 7.5-point underdog versus Clemson when they face-off in Death Valley in a crucial ACC contest. The Yellow Jackets steamrolled the Tigers 28-6 last season, but Clemson is coming off of a huge victory against then #6 Notre Dame.

Bet The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at +7 Because…

Georgia Tech has lost three straight, including their narrow 38-31 Week 5 loss against in-state rival North Carolina last weekend and has to be totally desperate coming into this Week 6 matchup.

The Yellow Jackets failed to cover the spread as a 6.5-point home favorite the last time out to fall to 0-3 ATS over their last three games and simply haven’t been able to stop the opposition in giving up at least 30 points in each of their last three games.

The Yellow Jackets fell completely apart against the Tar Heels in getting outscored 24-10 in the second half, while getting held to just three points in the fourth quarter. Making is the loss look even worse in my opinion is the fact that the Yellow Jackets managed to lose a game they absolutely dominated early on by scoring touchdowns on each of their first three possessions.

Starting quarterback Justin Thomas continued his season-long struggles by getting held to a modest 56 rushing yards on 18 carries while completing 12 of 21 passes for 162 yards with one interception and one touchdown.

For the season, Thomas is completing an awful 45.6 percent of his passes while getting limited to just 3,2 yards per carry after rushing for an impressive 1,086 yards in 2014 while averaging a stellar 5.7 yards per carry.

The Yellow Jackets still have one of the nation’s best rushing attacks as they average a whopping 311.8 rushing yards per game, (sixth). Unfortunately, Georgia Tech’s passing attack is absolutely anemic behind Thomas. The Yellow Jackets average a paltry 127.0 passing yards per game to rank 121st in the nation.

Bet The Clemson Tigers at -7 Because…

Clemson remained undefeated by taking down previously No. 8 Notre Dame 24-22 in arguably the most exciting game on the Week 5 schedule. The Tigers narrowly failed to cover the spread as a 3-point home favorite and almost allowed the Irish to come back from a huge deficit by getting outscored 19-3 in the final period. Clemson locked down the win by stopping Notre Dame quarterback DeShone Kizer’s potentially game-tying two-point conversion attempt.

Starting quarterback DeShaun Watson tossed two touchdown passes in the win while rushing for another and the Tigers’ overpowering defense held the Fighting Irish to three points through three quarters of play.

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction

I have no idea why only 52 percent of the betting public likes Clemson, but that’s okay…I’m far more convinced than most that Clemson will win this ACC conference clash convincingly to cover the spread with room to spare.

Not only is Georgia Tech is averaging just 24.3 points per game over their last three games,  but more importantly, the Yellow Jackets have watched their defense fall apart at the same time.

Clemson has limited the opposition to just 14.8 points per game this season to rank 12th in the nation and I like the Tigers’ 25th-ranked run defense to give Georgia Tech a tough way to go in this affair.

Clemson will also be looking to extract some serious revenge after getting blown out by the Yellow Jackets 28-6 on the road last season.

With the home team in this rivalry going 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings and Clemson clearly being the ‘better’ team right now, I expect a focused Tigers team to get ‘er done! My final score prediction is Clemson 30, Georgia Tech 20.
