Bet Georiga To Win The Rose Bowl Becuase
Georgia hits the Rose Bowl coming off a fantastic 28-7 ‘payback’ win over Auburn in the SEC Championship on Dec. 2 that came three weeks after the Bulldogs lost to the Tigers 40-17 to ruin their unbeaten season up to that point. Georgia’s success this season has been driven by a defense that finished the regular season ranked fourth in total defense, second against the pass, 11th against the run and a stellar fourth in points allowed (13.2 ppg).
The Dawgs also ranked 35th in total offense, 10th in rushing, and an encouraging 22nd in scoring (34.9 ppg). Running back Nick Chubb rushed for a team-high 1,175 yards and 13 touchdowns while fellow backs, Sonny Michel and Deandre Swift added 948 yards and 13 scores and 597 yards and three touchdowns respectively. Freshman quarterback Jake Fromm had a solid season by completing 63.0 percent of his passes for 2,173 yards with 21 touchdowns and a modest five interceptions.
Bet Oklahoma To Win The Rose Bowl Becuase
Oklahoma and their brash quarterback Baker Mayfield, ranked first in total offense this season, third in passing, 27th in rushing and fourth in scoring by putting up a whopping 44.9 points per game under first-year head coach Lincoln Riley. The Sooners also finished the regular season ranked 58th in total defense and 52nd in points allowed (25.0 ppg). Not only did Mayfield throw for 4,340 yards with a stupendous 41 touchdown passes and just five interceptions, but over the last three seasons, he’s gone tossed a mind-boggling 117 TD passes and just 20 interceptions.
Georgia Vs Oklahoma 2018 Rose Bowl ATS Pick
This contest is a classic matchup of offense versus defense and while I’d almost always go with the defensive team to win and advance, I just don’t see it happening for Georgia this time, seeing as how no team has been able to contain Baker Mayfield and the Sooners’ explosive offense.
No matter how much you may dislike Mayfield’s arrogant on-field antics like planting a flag on Ohio State’s 50-yard-line or his pelvic thrusts and crotch-grabbing antics against Kansas the fact of the matter is that Oklahoma can score in bunches and no one has been able to stop them. Even in their lone loss to Iowa State this season, the Sooners put 31 points on the board.
I don’t see Georgia being able to contain Mayfield for the entire game or being able to score enough points in order to keep up with the explosive Sooners. I know Georgia has gone 5-1 ATS in their last six neutral site games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record, but Oklahoma is 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record, 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and a robust 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games following an ATS win. Oklahoma is my 2018 Rose Bowl pick to get the win and cover the 2-point spread, although Georgia certainly won’t go quietly into the night.
