Memphis, yes, Memphis is undefeated. No, not the basketball team. The Memphis football team. That’s who is undefeated.
Crazy, right? Memphis goes into a Friday night matchup with Tulsa not only undefeated but also ranked for the first time in what seems like forever. Memphis beat Ole Miss as a +10 point home dog last Saturday. Do the Tigers have enough to keep the good times rolling? Will Tulsa end the continuous party on Beale Street? Keep reading to find out!

Why Bet On #18 Memphis (-10) to Beat Tulsa
Memphis (6-0, 2-0 AAC) has won 13 straight, the third-longest streak in the country.
Undefeated Memphis is a complete team. The Tigers have earned their way into the Top 20 by beating every team that they have faced. Memphis started out the season by beating Missouri State 63 to 7. After that win, it was victories against Kansas 55 to 23, Bowling Green 44 to 41, Cincinnati 53 to 46 and South Florida 24 to 17 that put Memphis onto the radar of voters.
Voters had to put Memphis into the Top 20 after the Tigers came back from being down 14 to 0 to beat Ole Miss 37 to 24. What’s impressive about Memphis is that they can win games with their defense, like they did by only yielding 17 points to South Florida, or they can win with their offense, like when they did by scoring 53 against Cincinnati.
Memphis’ defense shut down an Ole Miss team that was averaging 43.6 points and 521 yards per game. That’s impressive. What’s even more impressive is how Memphis came back to win the game by 2 touchdowns after spotting the Rebels 14 points.
Why Bet On Tulsa to Beat #18 Memphis (-10)
Tulsa had taken four in a row over Memphis before the Tigers won 40-20 at home Oct. 31.
Memphis’ offense is terrific. The Tigers average 532.8 yards and 46 points per game. But on Friday Memphis faces a Tulsa offense that’s almost as good as their offense is. In fact, Tulsa averages more yards per game of offense than the Tigers do.
Tulsa averages 550.2 yards of total offense per matchup. The Golden Hurricane passes for 354.5 yards on average per game. Tulsa has a very fast offense that eats up chunks of yardage. The problem that the Golden Hurricane has is putting the ball in the end zone. Even though Tulsa can move the ball with regularity and gain a ton of yardage, they only average 33.3 points per game. If Tulsa has any hope of sticking with Memphis on Friday night, they’re going to have to put the ball into the end zone. That could happen more than many football handicappers want to believe.
It’s going to be difficult for Memphis to come back with the same energy on defense as they showed against Ole Miss. In a shootout, anything can happen. Tulsa may not win the game, but the Golden Hurricane could keep it close and Memphis is only 3-2-1 against the spread this season. My final score prediction is Memphis 49, Tulsa 45.
