College Football Week 14 Five Star Lock Picks

Alabama Vs Mississippi State Line, Predictions, Pick, Betting Preview

Alabama left nothing to chance against LSU in Week 10. The Tide rolled all over the Tigers in an awesome 30 to 16 win as a -7.5 point home favorite. But, Alabama had better not bask in the glory of their win over their biggest SEC rival this season. The Crimson Tide has to travel to Starksville to take on the very good Mississippi State Bulldogs.

The college football week 11 betting line favors Bama by a touchdown to beat Miss State. The Bulldogs have climbed their way to #17 in the College Football Playoff rankings. A win over Alabama would put them into the Top 10.

Why Bet On #2 Alabama (-8) to Beat Mississippi State

Alabama has the best defense in the country and points will be hard for State to come by.

It’s hard to argue against facts. Although Alabama is only 4 and 5 ATS this season, they sort of made up for it by punishing LSU last Saturday. Any football handicappers that had an action bet on Alabama at -7.5 against LSU made out like a bandit.

Last week, rusher Derrick Henry and Alabama’s defense steamrolled LSU by a 30-16 score. They squarely belong in the College Football Playoff hunt. While Henry ran for 210 yards and three touchdowns, Bama’s D smothered opposing rusher and Heisman favorite Leonard Fournette for a measly 31 yards on 19 carries. The Alabama offense punished LSU’s defense for 434 total yards. Alabama proved that it’s the best team in college football.

“I think it shows we’re ready to play whoever, whenever, and that we kind of deserve to be in the College Football Playoff again,” said Alabama linebacker Dillon Lee.

Even after last week’s performance, handicappers might want to think twice about action betting on the Crimson Tide this Saturday against Mississippi State, if the Tide comes at the Bulldogs with the same force that they came at the Tigers with, Alabama should easily win the game. But will they cover the spread?

Why Bet On Mississippi State to Beat #2 Alabama (-8)

Each of the last four years following the LSU game, Alabama has failed to cover. Included in that span are three games vs. Mississippi State (two in Starkville).

Last week Alabama’s defense did a number on LSU QB Brandon Harris in the Crimson Tide’s last game. Harris completed only 6 out of 19 passes for 128 yards. He threw only a single TD and a pick.

“Any time you have an emotional win, you’ve got to get your team to respond the right way and make sure that they’re focused on what they need to do to play just as well the next week or better,” Bama head-coach Saban said.

This week they face the best quarterback that it’s faced all season long. Dak Prescott is a special player. He leads the Bulldogs in rushing yards at 418, a 4.9 average, and in passing yards, 2351. He’s thrown 18 touchdowns to only a single interception while completing 66.7% of his passes. He has also thrown for more than 300 yards in three straight games while totaling 10 touchdown passes. Prescott has added 198 yards and four TDs on the ground in that span.

Catching balls from Prescott is 2014 leading receiver De’Runnya Wilson, who has 360 yards and six touchdowns over the past four games.

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction

Prescott is close to impossible to stop. Will Prescott do enough for Mississippi State to win this game straight up? He might. But, Alabama is likely to pull out a victory even though they won’t cover the spread. My final score prediction is Alabama 27, Mississippi State 24.
