How To Bet The Arkansas V Ole Miss Line

In last season’s first College Football Playoff rankings, Ole Miss was in the Top 4. This season, Ole Miss is ranked eighteenth. The Rebels have a pair of losses on their record. It’s doubtful that they will claw their way into the Top 4 this season. But, they could still play for a spot in a New Year’s Day Bowl. Doing so requires beating teams like Arkansas, whom they face this Saturday.

Why Bet On Arkansas to Beat #18 Ole Miss (-11)

The season did not start out well for the Razorbacks. After a stunning 48 to 13 win over UTEP, Arkansas fell apart. The Razorbacks proceeded to lose 3 games in a row:  12 to 16 to Toledo, 24 to 35 to Texas Tech and 21 to 28 to Texas A&M.

Since the 3 losses, Arkansas has been much better. The Razorbacks beat Tennessee 24 to 20, they beat Auburn 54 to 46, and they beat Tennessee-Martin 63 to 28 in a confidence building win. Arkansas’ only loss was to fourth ranked Alabama. If Arkansas’ new found confidence carries over to their game against Ole Miss, they can upset the Rebels.

Why Bet On #18 Ole Miss (-11) to Beat Arkansas

Everybody knows about Ole Miss’s offense. The Rebels average close to 520 yards per game while scoring close to 40 points per game. The key to Ole Miss’s success in their last 2 games, though, is their defense.

The Rebels scored only 23 points against Texas A&M. They put up only 27 points versus Auburn. Ole Miss won both of those games. The Rebels held Texas A&M to 3 points. They held Auburn to 19 points. If Ole Miss can hold Arkansas to under 20 points, the Rebels should win this game.

That doesn’t mean that Ole Miss will cover the spread. The betting spread gives Arkansas way too many points in this matchup. Ole Miss will win, but they won’t cover. My final score prediction is Ole Miss 28, Arkansas 20.
