Florida, knocking on the door to the College Football Playoff Top 10, travels to South Carolina to battle the Gamecocks this Saturday. Florida needs to win, and they need to win impressively, in order to garner any attention from the Selection Committee.
The Gators didn’t look very good against Vanderbilt in a sloppy 9 to 7 win as a -21 point favorite in their last. At the same time South Carolina lost a heart-breaker to the Vols by a 27-24 score.
The college football week 11 spread favors the Florida Gators by 7.5-points to beat the South Carolina Gamecocks. Can Florida beat South Carolina by at least covering the spread against the Gamecocks on Nov. 14?

Why Bet On #11 Florida (-7.5) to Beat South Carolina
Florida has a 38 percent chance of winning the SEC, the best of any team.
Florida’s offense may have looked like garbage against Vanderbilt. But, the defense was amazing. Florida’s D held Vanderbilt to 175 total yards. The Commodores averaged only 3.0 yards per carry. Florida allowed Vandy’s QB to complete only 3 out of 14 passes. It was a dominating performance. The defensive performance against Vanderbilt came off of dominating Georgia’s offense, whom Florida allowed to score only 3 points, Missouri’s offense, which could score only 3 against Florida, and Ole Miss’s offense, which could score only 10 versus the Gators.
Only LSU, who scored 35 points, has taken Florida’s defense to the woodshed. South Carolina averages 21.7 points and 367.1 yards per game. That’s not high averages in college football. Florida’s D should come up big again on Saturday.
“Our ultimate goal is a national championship." Gators cornerback Brian Poole said. "It’s kind of good to get that out of the way, but now it’s back to focusing on the bigger picture. We’re the Gators. We want to win national championships, not just the SEC East championship.”
Why Bet On South Carolina to Beat #11 Florida (-7.5)
The Gamecocks have had the Gators number over the last half decade
The Old Ball Coach, Steve Spurrier, is retiring after this season. That’s the rumor. Reality might be that Spurrier is going to take another job and that the alumni at South Carolina are just tired of paying his salary without showing any real results.
Players love Spurrier. He’s been one of the best coaches to play for since the late 1980’s. Spurrier built the football program at Duke before going to Florida. He turned Florida from a has-been football school in the SEC to one of the power house programs in the nation.
South Carolina has a 4-1 record against Florida in the last five years and two consecutive home wins. The Gamecocks beat the Gators 23-20 in overtime in Gainesville last season and 19-14 in Columbia two years ago.
“They’re certainly not going to overlook South Carolina,” said interim coach Shawn Elliott, who took over when Steve Spurrier resigned in October. “They know they’ve got to finish strong and we know what kind of challenge it’s going to be for us to take on their football team this week.”
Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction
Sure, it would be great, and the players will get up for this battle against Florida. But, beating the Gators just doesn’t seem possible. In addition to having a less than stellar offense, South Carolina is allowing 428 total yards and 27.3 points per game on defense.
Florida should have no trouble scoring points in this game. Emotion will take you only so far. Expect this game to turn into a blowout. My final score prediction is Florida 42, South Carolina 17.
