How To Bet The Notre Dame Fighting Irish Vs Boston College Eagles Odds

Notre Dame remains in the College Football Playoff hunt. With 2 games to go, Notre Dame could solidify its position in the playoff. In order to do so, the Irish has to beat Boston College. The Irish can’t just beat Boston College. They have to beat Boston College impressively. The college football week 12 odds favor the Irish by 17-points to beat the BC Eagles. Can Notre Dame do it knowing that they have to take on Stanford next week?

Bet The Notre Dame Fighting Irish Odds at -17 Because…

The Irish have beaten BC in four straight.

Boston College might have the best defense in the ACC. Clemson gets a lot of press about their defense. But, Boston College’s, at least based on stats, is right there with the Tigers’ defense. The Eagles allow an average of 236.5 yards per game. Opponents only score 14.4 points on average against BC. The Eagles are also second in the country in preventing big plays, allowing 15 plays of 40 or more yards this season.

“It’s really a defensive unit philosophy that you’re working at more than anything else,” Coach Brian Kelly added. “So it’s not one particular guy. So you’re really looking at how they’re coached and how they’re defending down and distance and formation-ally.”

But, Boston College plays one of the top offenses in the nation this Saturday when they face the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. QB DeShone Kizer is getting better week to week. His decision-making has been on point in ND’s last 5 games, all wins. RB C.J. Prosise is very difficult to stop. Kizer and Prosise lead an offense that averages 468.3 yards and 36.2 points a game. Because Kelly is a creative play-caller, it’s going to be difficult for Boston College to stop the Notre Dame offense.

“We just have to be probably a little more aggressive. I thought we were a little conservative at times,” Kelly said Tuesday after a less than stellar 28-7 win over Wake Forest last week. “Probably a little more aggressive in the areas where we’ve been pushing the ball vertically.”

Bet The Boston College Eagles at +17 Because…

The Eagles are 3-0 ATS on the road or on a neutral site this season.

Boston College’s biggest issue is that their terrific defense gets no support from their atrocious offense. The Eagles are averaging 276.6 yards and 17.3 points per game. BC has dropped six in a row as the offense has totaled 56 points. It’s their longest losing streak since dropping eight straight bridging the 1990 and ’91 seasons.

That won’t cut it in college football. The Eagles are 3 and 7 straight up on the season. BC won 3 out of its first 4 games. The Eagles are on a 5 game losing streak. The only hope that Boston College has in this game is to catch Notre Dame napping.

“They are number four or five in the country, that is where they should be,” head coach Steve Addazio said. “They are ranked very appropriately, so this will be a great challenge for us.”

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction

The Irish have a huge game coming up next Saturday against one of the best teams in the Pac 12, the Stanford Cardinal. If Notre Dame’s mind is on the Cardinal, Boston College might find a way to pull off the upset. The chances of that happening are slim to none. Kelly is just too good of a coach to allow his players to lose focus.

Notre Dame has taken the past four meetings, most recently winning 21-6 in 2012, and BC has lost 15 of 16 against Top 25 foes. My final score prediction is Notre Dame 35, Boston College 10.

My Pick: The Irish by a bunch.
