It’s already been a tough week for USC. One of the top football programs in the nation had to fire their head coach because of what has been reported as a drinking problem.
For USC, the timing of their coaches firing couldn’t have been worse. USC goes into their Saturday matchup with longtime rival Notre Dame having lost to Washington as a huge home favorite. Notre Dame will have sympathy for USC’s former coach who has since checked into rehab. But, don’t expect the Irish to have any sympathy on the football field. Can USC overcome adversity and still beat Notre Dame?

Why Bet On USC to Beat #14 Notre Dame (-6.5)
USC is going to win for Sark.
It’s not often that the USC Trojans have to play with emotion. In most games, USC is so incredibly more talented than its opponents that the Trojans don’t need emotion. All USC has to do is show up and start whipping its opponents with great defense and unstoppable offense.

That won’t be the case for the Trojans on Saturday. Notre Dame is one of the best coached teams in all of college football. Brian Kelly has his team prepared each and every week. Even when the Irish looked dead in the water, when they were down 21 to 3 at the end of the third quarter against Clemson, Kelly finds a way to get his team to play to the very last whistle. The Irish was a 2-point conversion away from tying the game with Clemson at the end of that contest.
The only way for USC to stay in this matchup is for the Trojans to try and win one for their former coach, Steve Sarkisian. USC’s fans can’t expect interim Coach Clay Helton to out strategize someone like Brian Kelly. It’s just not going to happen.
USC has to be smart and they have to play with emotion. They have to get each other’s backs on every play in this game. If they don’t, Notre Dame could blow out the Trojans.

Why Bet On #14 Notre Dame (-6.5) to Beat USC
Notre Dame’s defense is going to confuse QB Cody Kessler.
Notre Dame is a very good football team. If the Irish were to win out, there is an outside possibility for Notre Dame to get a berth into the College Football Playoff. Clemson continues to impress and Notre Dame almost pulled off the upset in Death Valley. Notre Dame has also suffered through major injuries to starting QB Malik Zaire and starting RB Tarean Folston. The Irish have bounced back in a big way.
One aspect of Notre Dame’s team has shined from the very beginning. Although the stats don’t imply it, Notre Dame’s defense is one of the best in the nation. The Irish held Clemson down on numerous occasions in the second half of their game versus the Tigers. The Irish D kept Navy to 24 points in a 41 to 24 win in their last.
When USC QB Cody Kessler is pressured, he tends to fall apart. Expect Notre Dame to put the pressure on Kessler early in this game. Kessler has already thrown 3 interceptions this season in USC’s last 2 games then what he threw all of last season, 5 interceptions in 13 games. Notre Dame should win easily. My final score prediction is Notre Dame 42, USC 27.
