Bet The Syracuse Orange at +12 Because…
Syracuse used it new, no-huddle offense to roll all over Colgate in their 33-7 Week 1 win.
The Orange racked up a whopping 554 yards on 81 plays. Quarterback Eric Dungey opened the game with 13 straight completions while going 34-for-40 for 355 yards and two touchdowns.
For the first-time in program history, two Syracuse wide receivers caught at least 10 balls in a game together. Ervin Philips grabbed a school-record 14 catches for 87 yards and one score while Amba Etta-Tawo hauled in a dozen passes for 210 yards,
"From day one, we knew in this type of offense there’s room for a lot of plays," said Etta-Tawo, a transfer from Maryland. "So we had to click up day one. We did a lot of stuff in the summer, leading into the season, to just prepare for opportunities like this."
Bet The Louisville Cardinals at -12 Because…
Gifted dual-threat signal-caller Lamar Jackson completed 17 of 23 passes for 286 yards and an insane six touchdowns while rushing 11 times for 119 yards and two scores to account for a mind-boggling eight touchdowns – all by halftime.
"I was just trying to get everyone the ball," said Jackson, who completed at least one pass to 16 different receivers. “We have a lot of big-time players, and I’m trying to get the ball in their hands instead of it looking like me running around all the time."
My ATS Pick
With two teams that will be playing fast-paced football from the outset, I love the over 59.5 total points in this contest.
The Over is 5-1 in Louisville’s last six games and 4-2 in the Cardinals’ last six road games. More importantly, it is Syracuse’s new, no-huddle offense that will easily push the final score in this Week 2 affair over the game total odds.
While Louisville is a Top 20 playoff contender, the fact of the matter is that both of these teams have a multitude of playmakers.
In addition to a pick for the Over, I also like the Orange to keep the final score inside the 12-point spread after going 5-0 ATS in their last five home games.
