No. 21 Florida Looks to Avoid Home Upset Against Visiting LSU in Week 6 SEC Showdown

The 21st-ranked Florida Gators will look to avoid the home upset when they host the visting LSU Tigers in a contest that could eliminate one or the other from legitimate SEC conference championship contention when they square off on Saturday in their Week 6 showdown.

The Week 6 college football betting spread favors Florida by a field-goal over LSU. Now, let’s see if the Gators can get the win and ATS cover in this intriguing matchup.

Spread: Florida Gators -3

Why Bet the LSU Tigers Spread at +3

The Tigers will have plenty of motivation after getting humbled in their stunning 24-21 loss against Troy this past weekend. Quarterback Danny Etling looked mediocre at best (again) while completing 17 of 25 passes for 198 yards with two touchdowns and one interception before being replaced by backup Myles Brennan who completed 4 of 7 passes for 68 yards with one touchdown and a pick of his own. LSU’s defense got shredded for 191 rushing yards and one touchdown by Troy running back Brandon Silvers and the Tigers committed four turnovers in the loss while going a pitiful 0-for-9 on third downs.

Why Bet the Florida Gators Spread at -3

The Gators throttled Vanderbilt in their 38-24 Week 5 win despite my prediction otherwise as running back Malik Davis rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries, while fellow running back Lamical Perine added 58 rushing yards and three touchdowns on just 15 carries. Quarterback Feliepe Franks completed 10 of 14 passes for 185 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions, but fellow signal-caller Luke Del Rio was lost for the remainder of the season after suffering a broken collarbone. Defensively, Florida limited Vanderbilt to just 46 rushing yards on 20 carries while winning the time of possession battle by 12 minutes.

LSU vs Florida ATS Pick

While I’m not overly fond of Florida this season, the Gators are the pick to win and cover the college football betting line in this contest because they have the better defense and quarterback in this matchup. Not only did LSU get man-handled by Troy last weekend, but the Tigers are a winless 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games.

I know Florida has gone an uninspiring 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall and just 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 home games, but the Gators are playing at home and should be able to harass LSU quarterback Danny Etling into one or two costly turnovers at the very least. I’m going to advise you to back Florida to get it done as slight home favorites against

Pick: Florida -3
