Bad news for the Orange. Late breaking news is reporting that starting quarterback Eric Dungey is “probably doubtful” aafter sustaining a helmet-to-helmet hit last week, coach Scott Shafer said. Starting QB Terrel Hunt is already out for the season. Third stringers Austin Wilson and Zack Mahoney are competing this week to see who will start.

Why Bet On 8 LSU (-24) to Beat Syracuse

Fournette is the NCAA version of Beastmode.

LSU was supposed to have a down season in 2015. LSU was picked to finish third in the SEC West behind Alabama and Auburn. After 2 games, the Tigers have shown that not only are they a force to be reckoned with in the SEC West, but that they might be one of the best teams in all of college football.

LSU absolutely drubbed rival Auburn in Week 3. LSU beat Auburn 45 to 21. The Bayou Tigers dominated the Tigers from Alabama by running the football. LSU rushed for an incredible 411 yards. What’s crazier is that LSU averaged 8.6 yards per carry. It was impossible for Auburn to stop Leonard Fournette who threw his hat into the Heisman Trophy ring with a 228 yards and 3 touchdowns performance. Fournette averaged 12 yards a carry.

Brandon Harris, LSU’s QB, rushed for 66 yards on 8 carries. He scored 2 touchdowns on the ground. Syracuse allows an average of 46.7 yards on the ground per game. But the Orange defense has faced Rhode Island, Wake Forest and Central Michigan this season. If LSU gets their rushing game going, they’ll blow out the Orange this Saturday.

Why Bet On Syracuse to Beat LSU (-24)

Syracuse’s balanced offense could carry the day.

Although Syracuse hasn’t faced very tough teams, they’ve played very well in order to secure a 3 and 0 record. The Orange offense won’t be mistaken for Ole Miss’s, but it’s a decent unit. Syracuse’s offense scored 30 points versus Central Michigan in their last game. Syracuse didn’t cover the spread since they were an 8 point favorite and won 30 to 27, but they played well enough for the straight up win.

In that matchup, Syracuse only acquired 326 total yards. The Orange rushed for 165 yards and passed for 161 yards. The ‘Cuse only had the ball for about 21 minutes of the 60. The offense was so efficient, though, that Syracuse still ended up winning.

A balanced attack is what Syracuse will need in order to beat LSU. LSU’s defense is one of the better units in college football. The defense ended up giving up points late to Auburn in Week 3, but that was after shutting down Auburn’s offense for the entire first half.

If Syracuse hopes to have any shot in this game, they’re going to have to both run and pass effectively. That’s not likely to happen. LSU figures to put a major beat down on the Orange. I am picking the LSU Tigers as the smart CFB week 4 bet. My final score prediction is LSU 42, Syracuse 14.
