Can No. 22 Michigan State Rebound From Humbling Loss Against Desperate Maryland in Week 12 Matchup?
After getting completely dominated last weekend, college football bettors need to know whether or not 22nd-ranked Michigan State can bounce back from their humbling loss in Week 12. The Spartans will play host to a Maryland Terrapins team that is desperate to nab two more wins to become bowl eligible before the end of the regular season. Now, let’s find out what’s going to go down when these two teams square off in their Big Ten matchup on Saturday at Spartan Stadium with this contest airing live on FOX.
Maryland Terrapins Vs Michigan State Spartans
Maryland Terrapins (4-6) at Michigan State Spartans (7-3)
When: Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 4:00 PM ET
Where: Spartan Stadium
NCAAF Odds: Michigan State -16.5
The Maryland Terrapins have lost two straight and five of their last six games overall and come into Week 12 off a humbling 35-10 beatdown loss against Michigan last weekend. The Terrapins have lost seven of their last nine road games dating back to last season and have been held to 14 points or less in three of their last five losses overall. Maryland also has an inexperienced quarterback under center right now with Ryan Brand having just 42 career pass attempts.
Michigan State should have plenty of motivation after ending up on the wrong end of a stunning 48-3 loss against Ohio State last weekend while never coming close to covering the spread as a 17.5-point road underdog. While the Spartans have dropped two of their last three games overall, the good news is that they’ve also managed to win six of their last eight home games. The bad news is that quarterback Brian Lewerke has been completely mediocre this season and comes into this matchup having thrown six touchdown passes and four interceptions over his last three games.
It says a whole lot about Michigan State’s play when 52 percent of public bettors like Maryland to cover the chalk in this contest, but I believe that’s the right call seeing as how the Spartans are struggling mightily right now. The Terrapins are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record and 2-9 ATS in their last 11 road games while Michigan State has gone 8-1 ATS in their last 9 home games and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games in the month of November.
Still, I really don’t trust Michigan State right now and neither should you after last week’s embarrassing loss. I’m rolling with the 52 percent of bettors that likes Maryland in this one and I advise you to also.
