What Is The Michigan Vs Purdue Spread?Josh Bailey
No. 8 Michigan Looks to Avoid Big Upset Against Revitalized Purdue in Week 3 Big Ten Battle
The eighth-ranked Michigan Wolverines will look to avoid the huge upset to remain unbeaten when they visit a Purdue Boilermakers team that has looked increasingly better with each passing performance through three games this season. If you’re looking for value in Week 4 of the 2017 college football season, then this contest is offering a ton of it in my estimation. Now, let me explain why!

Why Bet the Michigan Wolverines Odds at -9.5
The Michigan Wolverines beat Air Force 29-13 on Saturday but failed to cover the college football betting line as a whopping 23-point home favorite. More importantly, Jim Harbaugh’s team has some real issues on offense, particularly with his team’s inability to pass the ball with any sort of consistency, which makes them one-dimensional in my estimation.
Quarterback Wilton Speight completed 14 of 23 passes for 169 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions against Air Force, but his struggles are clearly evident as he’s completing just 54.5 percent of his passes this season for 571 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions while being limited to one TD pass or less in four of his last six games.
Running back Ty Isaac rushed for a team-high 89 yards on 16 carries against the Falcons and has been the workhorse for a Michigan team that is averaging a stellar 199.3 rushing yards per contest this season. Isaac has rushed for 336 yards on 47 carries so far this season. Defensively, Michigan is still playing at a high level under Harbaugh in limiting the opposition to just 14.7 points and 208 yards per game.
Why Bet the Purdue Boilermakers Odds at +9.5
The Boilermakers are looking really good under first-year head coach Jeff Brohm and have won two straight games coming into this contest including their 35-3 Week 2 smackdown of Missouri. Quarterback David Blough completed an impressive 22 of 28 passes for 187 yards and one touchdown in the win while backup quarterback Elijah Sindelar completed 4 of 6 passes for 85 yards with one touchdown and one interception after entering the game once the Boilermakers had assured themselves of victory.
Defensively, the Boilermakers also limited Mizzou to just 79 rushing yards in the win while forcing Tigers quarterback Drew Lock into an awful 12-for-28 passing day with no touchdowns and two interceptions. For the season, Blough is completing a stupendous 76.1 percent of his passes for 597 yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions.
Michigan Vs Purdue ATS Pick
Purdue has been a fantastic pick for me in all three of their games this season and I believe they’re the easy pick to cover the spread against the Wolverines in this Week 4 Big Ten battle. While Michigan is one of the best defensive teams in the country, I’m still expecting Purdue to put their fair share of points on the board, to not only cover the college football betting spread but do so by winning outright against a Michigan team that I believe may need to make a change at quarterback.
The Wolverines are just 1-4 ATS in their L/5 games against a team with a winning record and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall while the home team in this rivalry is 9-3-1 ATS in the last 13 meetings. Call me crazy, but I smell an upset brewing! Go with the 55 percent of public bettors that like the revitalized Boilermakers to cover the spread.
Pick: Purdue +9.5
