Bet on Nebraska (+7.5) Because…

The Nebraska Cornhuskers (7-0, 4-0 Big Ten) have a balanced, pro-style, offense.  The Huskers average 447.6 yards per game. 236 of those yards are via the pass. 211.6 of those yards are via the rush. The Cornhuskers average over 34 points per game. The ability to both run and pass the ball equally well has led Nebraska to their undefeated record.

Nebraska is off to its best start in 15 seasons, will get star receiver Jordan Westerkamp back from a back injury suffered late in an Oct. 3 win at Illinois. Westerkamp led the Cornhuskers with 65 catches for 918 yards and seven touchdowns a year ago.

Quarterback Tommy Armstrong is excited to get his roommate and number one target back.

“It’s going to help a lot,” Armstrong said. “I think the whole team is excited about just having another threat out there on offense. Just getting back to having a full unit even though we have guys that rotate in and out, here and there. But having Jordan back is going to be an important key for us.”

Bet on Wisconsin (-7.5) Because…

For the fifth time in eight games this season, the Wisconsin Badgers (5-2, 2-2 Big Ten) will face a team ranked in the Top 10, this time unbeaten Nebraska.

Wisconsin opened the season with a 16-14 win over then-No. 5 LSU at famed Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis. Three weeks later, it took down then-No. 8 Michigan State 30-6 in East Lansing, Mich.

The Badgers have lost their last two games against Top 10 foes, a 14-7 defeat at then-No. 4 Michigan and a 30-23 overtime setback to then-No. 2 Ohio State on Oct. 15.

Wisconsin’s defense remains one of the best in the nation. The Badgers allow less than 301 total yards per game. That ranks ninth in college football. The Badgers give up only 14.3 points per game. That ranks fourth in college football. What’s interesting is that opponents pass for less than 200 yards per game against Wisconsin. The Badgers only give up 102.9 rushing yards per game.

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction

Many believe that Wisconsin is the better team because the Badgers almost beat Ohio State while already beating LSU and Michigan State this season. Wisconsin also almost took down Michigan in Ann Arbor, losing by only a touchdown, in a game where it appeared that Wisconsin might be able to pull out a win.

But Nebraska is no slouch of a team. The Cornhuskers are undefeated for a reason. They aren’t flashy but their players don’t miss assignments. Not only that, but Nebraska coach Mike Riley finally has quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. playing within his system.

This should be a tough, close battle. I think that Wisconsin wins it. I’m just not willing to give up 8.5 points. I’m going Wisconsin straight up and Nebraska ATS.

My final score prediction is Wisconsin 20, Nebraska 16.
