The Baylor Bears will look to take down the Michigan State Spartans and show everyone why they feel like they should have been one of the final four playoff participants and I believe that’s exactly what’s going to happen in this intriguing pairing.

While Michigan State closed out its regular season by winning two straight games following their 49-37 home loss to Ohio State on Nov. 8, I don’t think the Spartans will be able to keep up with an explosive Baylor Bears team that enters this game with a massive chip on their collective shoulders.

"My opinion, since people are asking? I think the committee needs to be a little more regionalized with people that are associated with the south part of the United States," head coach Art Briles told reporters recently. "I’ll say that. I’m not sure if there’s a connection on there that is that familiar with the Big 12 Conference. To me, that’s an issue."

The Bears won five straight to close out the regular season while tying TCU for the Big 12 co-championship. More importantly, Bryce Petty is by far, the best quarterback in this matchup.

Petty has tossed 26 TD passes this season and only six interceptions while completing 62.1 percent of his passes for 3,305 yards. If he doesn’t throw the ball away (he won’t) I say the Bears win and cover with room to spare!

Besides, as Briles said, the Bears still have a lot to play for even if they can’t win the national championship.

"That’s not an issue at all. Our guys want to play, they want to win, they want to represent," he said. "We can win 12 games, finish as a top-five team. For our seniors and our program, it’s a huge, huge game."

Citrus Bowl
Minnesota Golden Gophers vs Missouri Tigers

Stadium: Florida Citrus Bowl

Radio:  Minnesota Vs  Missouri
Point Spread: Tigers -5.5
Game Total: N/A

The Big Ten’s Minnesota Gophers will square off against the SEC’s Missouri Tigers in a bowl game pairing that I believe is more of a mismatch than a battle between pretty evenly matched opponents.

You see, while the Gophers had a fine eight-win season that landed them in second place in the conference’s West division, I don’t think the Gophers are nearly as complete as the 10-win Missouri Tigers.

Prior to getting routed by Alabama 42-13 in the SEC title game on Saturday, Missouri had won six straight games against its tougher SEC opponents.

The Gophers have an outstanding player in All-Big Ten running back David Cobb (1,548 yards, 13 TDs) and another gifted performer in dual-threat signal-caller Mitch Leidner, but I like Missouri’s vaunted defense even more.

The Tigers ranked inside the 40 in every meaningful defensive statistical category and I believe they’ll keep Minnesota’s solid, but not explosive, offense in check throughout this contest.

Missouri quarterback Maty Mauk will make at least two big plays in this contest to fuel the Tigers’ win and easy ATS cover.
