Why Bet On The Irish Over The Canes?
The Fighting Irish had their hands full last weekend but managed to get past Wake Forest 48-37 as Brandon Wimbush passed for one score and rushed for 110 yards and two more scores while putting up 390 yards of total offense. Even though the Irish got the win, they gave up a stunning 37 points to the Demon Deacons in what was easily the most points they’ve given up this season.
Why Bet On The Canes Over The Irish?
Miami remained unbeaten by putting a convincing 28-10 spanking on a very good Virginia Tech team while easily covering the spread as a 2-point home favorite. Quarterback Malik Rosier didn’t have the best game in passing for 193 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions, but he did add 84 rushing yards and score in the win to lead the Hurricanes to victory.
More importantly, Miami’s defense shut down Virginia Tech and recorded two interceptions in the win while limiting the Hokies to just 102 rushing yards and recovering two fumbles. While I’ve been really impressed with Miami this season, I think the 61 percent of public bettors that are going with the Fighting Irish in this affair have it right and I believe the biggest difference in this contest will be the play at quarterback.
Irish Vs Canes Betting Advice
To be blunt about it, Malik Rosier simply isn’t as good as Notre Dame’s Brandon Wimbush and Miami’s offense isn’t nearly as explosive as Notre Dame’s. The Irish average just under 10 points per game more than Miami and have gone 6-1 ATS in their last seven non-conference games and 4-1 ATS in their last five road games.
I know Miami is 7-0 ATS in their last seven games in November and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games versus a team with a winning record, but the Hurricanes are also a winless 0-6 ATS in their last six games versus independents.
Notre Dame has scored at least 33 points in all their wins this season and I just don’t see Miami being able to match that kind of explosive offense. The Irish win and narrowly cover the chalk people!
Pick: Notre Dame -3
