Ohio State at Minnesota Week 12 Against the Spread OddsJosh Bailey
Ohio State is knocking on the door to the College Football Playoff. A stumble by any of the teams in front of it in the rankings could send Ohio State into the playoff with a chance at a National Championship.
Minnesota has been a surprise team in the Big Ten, though, going 7 and 2 straight up and going undefeated at home. Can Minnesota stop Ohio State from a possible date with destiny?

Analyzing OSU vs Minnesota Week 12 Against The Spread Odds
Minnesota could present a problem for the Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday. The Golden Gophers have lost only 2 games this season. One was a 7 to 30 spanking at the hands of TCU, one of the best teams in the nation, early on in the season.
The other was a loss two games ago to Illinois on the road. In that game, Minnesota could only manage 24 points to Illinois’ 28 as a -3.5 point road favorite. The Golden Gophers’ last game, a 51 to 14 victory over Iowa, is more indicative of how they usually play. Minnesota throttled Iowa while racking up 429 total yards. The defense held Iowa to only 205 total yards. Minnesota’s D allows opponents to average only 335.3 total yards and 21.3 points.
Does Ohio State have enough on offense to raise those Minnesota defensive averages? It certainly appears that Ohio State does. The Buckeyes are averaging 512 yards and 46 points per game. Against Michigan State, who supposedly had one of the best defenses of any team in college football, the Buckeyes scored 49 points and totaled 568 yards. QB J.T. Barrett went 16 out of 26 for 300 yards. He threw 3 touchdown passes. Barrett also rushed for 86 yards from 14 carries and scored 2 rushing touchdowns. Barrett accounted for 5 touchdowns against the Spartans.

The trends give both teams a big shot against the spread in this matchup. Ohio State is 6 and 1 against the spread in their last 7 games overall, 4 and 1 ATS versus a team with a winning record and 5 and 1 against the spread in their last 6 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game. Minnesota is 9 and 2 against the spread in their last 11 conference games, 5 and 0 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing less than 275 total yards in their previous game, and 8 and 2 against the spread in their last 10 games after allowing less than 170 passing yards in their previous game.
Minnesota will put up a fight, but Ohio State is on a roll right now. Coach Urban Meyer really has his team ready to rock and roll its way to the College Football Playoff. There isn’t a squad in college football right now that is playing better on offense than Ohio State.
The Buckeyes are unstoppable on offense. What it means is that the defense only needs to keep Minnesota from scoring a few times. This game should be a blow-out because the Buckeyes are surging at exactly the right time during the season.
