Why Bet The Ohio State Buckeyes To Beat The Hoosiers
The expectations are sky high for the Buckeyes this season. They are currently ranked second, only behind Bama, and nothing except for a College Football Playoff will be considered a disappointment for Urban Meyer and co.
The game features the return of former IU coach Kevin Wilson, who is now the offensive coordinator for Ohio State. He was forced to resign after philosophical differences with athletic director Fred Glass after the regular season. There were concerns how injured players were handled under Wilson. Allen was then promoted from defensive coordinator to head coach prior to the Foster Farms Bowl, which IU (6-7) lost to Utah 26-24.
Wilson was hired as the Buckeyes offensive coordinator in January.
QB JT Barrett will under the tutelage of OC Wilson. Barrett is a duel threat QB that has shown sparks of being a future first round pick, but inconsistency has plagued his whole college career. If has he improved enough in accuracy and his relationship and timing with the wide outs he could have a huge season.
Ohio State, by the way, has been money when going on the road over the past few years. The Buckeyes are 42-20-1 ATS in their last 63 road games. It’s a solid trend to follow in this case.
Why Bet The Indiana Hoosiers Buckeyes To Beat The Buckeyes
Indiana has been to back-to-back bowl games for the first time since 1990-91. Defensive coordinator Tom Allen has taken over the head coach duties after Wilson’s departure.
“Biggest home opener in the history of our program,” Allen said. “I’ve known I’ve said that many times, but it is what it is, That’s exactly the situation we find ourselves in.”
Allen said he expects the offensive scheme of the Buckeyes to be a combination of Ohio State coach Urban Meyer and Wilson.
The Hoosiers are 5-1 ATS in their last six games as an underdog of 10.5 or greater. They have covered the spread the last two times Ohio State visited Memorial Stadium.
Expert ATS Pick
The Buckeyes have won 21 consecutive games vs. the Hoosiers and lead the all-time series 72-12-5. IU’s last win over the Buckeyes came in 1988 in Bloomington. The Hoosiers did give visiting Ohio State a scare before falling 34-27 in the final seconds in 2015. Host Ohio State won 38-17 last year.
Bet OSU to cover!
