Bet on Ohio State -19.5 Because…
Ohio State’s offense is unstoppable. The Buckeyes’ worst offensive performance this year occurred in their game against Wisconsin on Oct. 15. In that matchup, Ohio State scored only 30 points. They scored 77 versus Bowling Green, 48 versus Tulsa, 45 on the road against Oklahoma, 58 versus Rutgers, and 38 against Indiana. Ohio State averages 49.3 points per game.
Coach Urban Meyer summed up the attitude of the Buckeyes after the hard-fought win at Wisconsin when he said, “That was a ballgame.” Ohio State fell behind 16-6 at halftime but outscored Wisconsin 23-7 in the second half and overtime to remain unbeaten and atop the Big Ten East Division standings with Michigan.
“We did get outplayed,” Meyer said. “I wouldn’t say we got out-toughed. They didn’t out-effort us. They had some very good stuff. Very good team, very good coaches, and you keep swinging.
Bet on Penn State +19.5 Because…
The Nittany Lions’ defense stepped it up in their last. As a 2-point home dog, Penn State roughed up Maryland on Oct. 15. The Nittany Lions racked up 372 rushing yards on their way to 524 total yards. They scored 38 points against the Terrapins. Penn State beat Maryland 38 to 14.
Penn State is hoping that a bye week and a “White-Out” game with 107,000 fans in Beaver Stadium will inspire an upset. The Nittany Lions, though, are just 1-4 in “White-Outs” since 2011, including two losses to the Buckeyes.
“We’re going to need the fans,” Penn State coach James Franklin said. “We’re going to need the alumni. We’re going to need everybody. This is a tremendous challenge we have that we’re facing all together, and we’re going to need the stadium to be the most difficult environment in the history of college football come Saturday night.”
Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction
Sure, Penn State’s defense stepped it up against Maryland. Not that Maryland is a bad team. But the Nittany Lions face the second best team, by a wide margin, in college football this Saturday. Only Alabama can be considered a better football team than Ohio State.
The Buckeyes are so good that they rallied from being down 16 to 6 at halftime to Wisconsin in Madison to win the game 30 to 23 in overtime. Most other teams would have just given up. Not Ohio State.
Ohio State is better than Penn State in every single position on the football field. They also have the better coach in College Football Playoff Championship Winner Urban Meyer. I just don’t see how Penn State touches Ohio State in this game.
I’ll definitely lay down the 19.5 points in this lopsided matchup.
