Oklahoma appears to have turned things around after losing so badly to Baylor a few weeks ago while Oklahoma State continues to go backward.

The betting line may change because Oklahoma quarterback Trevor Knight can’t play this Saturday, but the betting line might not matter. Oklahoma has bounced back admirably after a 14 to 48 loss to Baylor that essentially ended the Sooners’ chances of getting anywhere near a top bowl game this season.
Since the loss, Oklahoma has beaten Texas Tech 42 to 30 and Kansas 44 to 7. The Sooners’ offense is averaging a more than respectable 485.6 yards and 39.3 points per game. Those averages might suffer without Knight, but freshman QB Cody Thomas was a top recruit and has a seriously talented offensive weapon at his disposal in running back Samaje Perine. Perine rushed for 213 yards against Texas Tech and then broke Wisconsin’s Melvin Gordon’s only a week old record of most rushing yards in a single game by running over Kanas to the tune of 427 yards.
Oklahoma will utilize Perine on almost every down against an Oklahoma State defense that allows 155 rushing yards per matchup. The Cowboys’ offense is scoring only 26.5 points and averaging only 369.7 yards per game. Oklahoma’s defense gives up less than 110 yards per game on the ground and less than 24 points per contest.

The biggest problem that Oklahoma State faces in this matchup on Saturday is that the team just isn’t playing well. The Cowboys have lost 5 straight games including dropping a 14 to 48 game to Kansas State and a 7 to 28 game to Texas. The trends point to how dire things should get for Oklahoma State in this matchup.
The Cowboys are 1 and 5 against the spread in their last 6 games after allowing more than 450 total yards in their previous game. They’re also 1 and 4 ATS in their last 5 road games versus a team with a winning home record and 1 and 5 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up loss of more than 20 points.
Oklahoma is 4 and 1 against the spread in the last 5 meetings between these two teams, 5 and 1 against the spread in their last 6 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game and 8 and 3 against the spread in their last 11 games in December.
Even though Trevor Knight won’t play for the Sooners this Saturday, Oklahoma won’t need him to cover a -20 points spread versus the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Sooner running back Samaje Perine has been unbelievable in Oklahoma’s last 2 games. He should have no trouble keeping it going against a bad Oklahoma State defense.
Pick: Oklahoma -20
