Analyzing The Oklahoma State Vs Baylor ATS Odds

Baylor is a close to 4 touchdown favorite against Oklahoma State on Saturday and most football handicappers, 57%, believe that Baylor will cover. Unlike TCU, whom Baylor beat earlier this season by a 61 to 58 score, the Bears are not likely to pull their foot off of the gas pedal against an inferior team like Oklahoma State.

TCU could barely beat Kanas, a team that Baylor squashed 60 to 14 a few weeks ago. The Bears know that the Selection Committee is paying attention. Football gamblers should expect Baylor to hit their offensive averages with ease versus Oklahoma State. The Bears are ranked first in college football in yards per game at 585. They’ll at least get that. The Bears are also ranked first in points per game at 50.1. The Bears should at least get 50.

Oklahoma State’s defense is okay if compared to other teams in the Big 12. The Cowboys allow 423 yards per game while teams score 30 points per game against it. Oklahoma State’s biggest flaw on D, though, is that the unit allows quarterbacks to throw for 284.9 yards per game. That’s going to really hurt the Cowboys in this game because Baylor QB Bryce Petty has thrown 21 touchdowns to only 3 interceptions. He lit up Oklahoma’s defensive backs with a 387 yards and a 76.2 completion percentage in a 48 to 14 Baylor victory.

The Cowboys will try and counter Petty with an offense that’s only averaging 367 total yards and 26.3 points. The Baylor defense could shut down Oklahoma State’s offense since it only allows 322 yards and 21 points per game.

The trends are all over Baylor in this contest. The Bears are 4-0-1 against the spread in their last 5 games following a bye week, 23 and 4 against the spread in their last 27 home games and 7 and 1 against the spread in their last 8 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game. Oklahoma State is 0 and 7 ATS versus a team with a winning record, 0 and 6 against the spread in their last 6 games following a straight up loss and 0 and 5 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

The wheels have fallen off at Oklahoma State. Baylor knows what it needs to do in order to turn the eyes of the Selection Committee away from TCU and to them. They have to continue to pummel teams and score as many points as they can.

There is no Big 12 Championship game this season, but there is one in the ACC, Pac 12 and SEC. Alabama, Oregon or Mississippi State could lose another game before the Selection Committee makes their final picks.  Baylor wants to be the team to take one of the current Top 4’s spots.

Destroying Oklahoma State by 40 points will certainly help the Bears get there.
