Oklahoma State heads to Iowa to battle the Iowa State Cyclones this Saturday, Nov. 11. Kick-off is scheduled for 12:00 pm ET on ABC from Jack Trice Stadium in Ames, IA.
Oklahoma State has gone 7 and 2 straight up. The Cowboys are only 5 and 4 against the spread. Iowa State is 6 and 3 straight up. The Cyclones are 7 and 1 against the spread.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Vs Iowa State Cyclones Line & Pick
The Week 7 college football betting line opened with the Cowboys as one touch down favorites and since has dipped to 6.5. The over/under is 61.5.
Bet on #12 Oklahoma State -6.5 because…
Oklahoma State fields one of the best offenses in college football. The Cowboys average a ridiculous 583.8 total yards per game. That ranks second in the nation. Oklahoma State also ranks second in average points per game at 45.3.
The Cowboys will want to run the ball effectively with the Big 12’s top rusher in Justice Hill, who is coming off a career-best rushing day of 228 yards against the Sooners. It will force the Cyclones D to commit more to stopping the run, opening up the offense for QB Mason Rudolph and Co.
Bet on #24 Iowa State +6.5 because…
Iowa State has already beaten two of the best teams in the Big 12 conference: Oklahoma and TCU. On Oct. 7, Iowa State beat Oklahoma 38-31 as a +31 dog. Then two weeks late on Oct. 28, Iowa State beat TCU 14 to 7. The Cyclones were a +7.5 dog in that game.
Furthermore, the Cyclones have been on the spot defensively. Iowa State ranks near the top of the conference in most of the major statistics, including second in scoring defense. Against Oklahoma, which runs an offense similar to the Cowboys, Iowa State dropped seven and eight into coverage successfully.
Oklahoma State Vs Iowa State Pick
This is one of those classic matchups between a great offense and a great defense. We all know that Oklahoma State can put up points. They did it in Week 10 when scoring 52 against Oklahoma.
What many of us might not know is that Iowa State has the best defense in the Big 12. The Cyclones’ D only allows 367.1 total yards per game. Iowa State’s defense allows an average of 18.9 points per game.
In fact, Iowa State’s defense is so good that only a couple of Big 12 opponents have scored 20 points or more versus the Cyclones. Oklahoma did when scoring 31. West Virginia did in Week 10 when scoring 20.
I won’t just take the points on the better defense in this matchup. I like Iowa State to upset Oklahoma State on the money line.
