Why Bet On #24 Oklahoma State (-3) To Cover The 3-point Spread Versus Texas
So far this season, Oklahoma State has fielded one of the top defenses in all of college football. Versus Central Michigan in their first game, the Cowboys’ D yielded only 343 total yards. Central Michigan rushed for 78 yards on 28 carries, a 2.8 yard per carry average. In their second game of the season versus Central Arkansas, Oklahoma State gave up only 92 yards rushing from 39 carries, a 2.4 yard per carry average. Against the University of Texas-San Antonio, the Cowboys did give up 176 yards rushing. But, UTSA ran the ball 51 times. The Cowboys only allowed a 3.5 yard per carry average.
More importantly in that game, Oklahoma State scored 69 points. They opened up the offense against UTSA. Oklahoma State’s defense yields only 115 yards per game on the ground. Since Texas averages 165 yards per game on the ground, Oklahoma State might be able to shut down the Longhorn rushing attack. That will be their best chance of not only beating Texas but of also covering the spread in this matchup.
Oklahoma State might want to slow down on offense. Having a rested defense in the fourth quarter is going to be one of the keys for a win on Saturday.

Why Bet On Texas To Cover The 3-point Spread Versus #24 Oklahoma State (-3)
After getting pummeled 38 to 3 against Notre Dame in their first game, the Texas Longhorns bounced back with a terrific 42 to 28 win over Rice in their second game. But it’s the Longhorns’ third game that should impress college football analysts.
Facing one of the top offensive teams in the nation, Texas roared back to lose by only a point. California rushed out to a 45 to 24 lead. At the end of 3 quarters, it looked like the Longhorns had no shot. That’s when Texas QB Jerrod Heard took over. He brought the Longhorns all the way back to a 44 to 45 score. Texas missed the tying extra point, which is why they lost the game. Still, it was a fantastic performance by Heard.
The freshman QB threw for 364 yards. He rushed for 163 yards and 3 touchdowns. Heard is as unstoppable of a quarterback as there is in college football. In 2 games, Heard has rushed for 247 yards. He’s passed for 494 yards.

Oklahoma State’s defense has looked good. But facing Central Michigan, Central Arkansas and the University of Texas-San Antonio is much different than facing a team led by a player like Jerrod Heard. This game has upset written all over it. I am picking Texas as the smart bet in this game versus Oklahoma. I am picking Texas to win this game big time. My final score prediction is Texas 45, Oklahoma State 21.
