Bet on Ole Miss +6 Because…
The Rebels have played well while battling through a tough schedule. Ole Miss almost pulled off the upset over Alabama on Sept. 17. The Rebels lost 43 to 48 to the Crimson Tide. It was touch and go for a while until Alabama pulled away in the second half. Ole Miss also lost a close one to Arkansas, 30 to 34 on Oct. 15. Going all the way back to their first game of the season, Ole Miss had a lead over Florida State before losing 34 to 45.
“I think this is when you find out a lot about yourself, a lot about your team, and a lot about your kids,” Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze said.
Bet on LSU -6 Because…
Ever since Ed Orgeron took over as coach, LSU has been unbeatable. The Tigers are 2-0 straight up and ATS since Orgeron took over. It’s not the fact that LSU has been winning. It’s the fact that LSU has been winning big. The Bayou Tigers pummeled Missouri 42 to 7 as a -12 home favorite in Orgeron’s first game. Then, in Orgeron’s second game as coach, LSU destroyed Southern Miss 45 to 10.
“You can see a little pep in their step. Guys are making plays, guys are having fun,” Orgeron said this week. “I know they feel good about being 2-0.”
ATS Pick & Final Score Prediction
This is a classic matchup between a team with an excellent offense, Ole Miss, versus a team with a terrific defense, LSU. 61% of football handicappers so far believe that Ole Miss will cover the spread. They believe that offense wins out.
I don’t. I believe that LSU’s defense is too good for Ole Miss to reach their 39.7 points per game average. Ole Miss shouldn’t be able to move the ball that easily against an LSU defense that hasn’t allowed an opponent to score more than 20 points in its last 4 games and 10 points in its last 2 games.
There’s another reason to like LSU. The Tigers average 228 rushing yards per game. Ole Miss gives up 212.8 rushing yards per game on average.
The Tigers should win and cover the spread in this SEC matchup.
