Over/Under Picks College Football Week 3

Over/Under Picks College Football Week 3

College football week 3 odds are usually the most accurate after a couple weeks of early season nerves. The teams have settled down. Oddsmakers have assessed offseason adjustments for each team and tightened their odds. But I have done the same and am here to give you three winning college football week 3 over/under picks.

Over/Under Picks College Football Week 3

Alabama at Ole Miss
When: Saturday, Sep. 15 at 7:00 pm ET
Where: Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, Oxford, MI
TV: ESPN
Game Total: 71

Analysis: So far, Alabama has averaged 54 points per game. That ranks the Crimson Tide tenth in college football in points scored per game. Bama averages 559 yards per. Alabama’s so balanced, they average 309 passing yards and 250 rushing yards, it’s a question if any defense can stop the Tide from scoring.

Ole Miss’ defense won’t. The Rebels allow 34 points per. Although Ole Miss shouldn’t score more than 17 against Alabama’s defense, that’s enough for this game to go over. Alabama is good for at least 50-points, but I don’t think Ole Miss will make up the rest.

Pick: Under 71

Arizona State at San Diego State
When: Saturday, Sep. 15 at 10:30 pm ET
Where: SDCCU Stadium, San Diego, CA
TV: CBS Sports Network
Game Total: 45½

Analysis: Arizona State’s defense has been close to impenetrable this season. The Sun Devils allow 300 total yards. Those 300 total yards translates to only 10 points per game. ASU runs a defensive formation with what they call the Tillman safety.

Named after former ASU great Pat Tillman, the Tillman safety is a roaming safety-linebacker hybrid that reads quarterbacks. So far, the Tillman safety has been great for ASU.

San Diego State averages 19 points per game while allowing 22.5.

Pick: Over 45½

Fresno State at UCLA
When: Saturday, Sep. 15 at 10:30 pm ET
Where: Rose Bowl, Pasadena, CA
TV: FS1
Game Total: 51

Analysis: UCLA only averages 19 points per game. The Bruins do allow close to 38 points per on average, though.

Fresno State averages 46.5 points while the Bulldogs allow only 17 points per. It’s important to put Fresno State’s per game point totals in perspective. The Bulldogs scored 79 against Idaho. Fresno State doesn’t have a great offense.

In Week 1, it played great against the overmatched Idaho Vandals. This game should go under the total.

Pick: Under 51
