Raycom Camellia Bowl Odds & PickNoah Williams
Is it just me, or does the inaugural Raycom Media Camellia Bowl matchup between 6-6 South Alabama and 7-6 Bowling Green win the argument for there being too many bowl games?
Surprisingly the Bowling Green Falcons stumbled to a MAC divsion crown which earned the squad an opportunity to play for the conference title. They lost and found themselves in a "they really have that bowl" bowl game facing off against the South Alabama Jaguars, who in this writers opinion have no business playing in this game after losing four of their last five games of the season.

Why Bowling Green Will Win the Camellia Bowl
After opening as a 1.5-point favorite when this point spread was initially released, the Bowling Green Falcons are now 3-point dogs, so that’s plenty of reason enough to ride them. If that isn’t, then you should know that Bowling Green averaged a respectable 29.8 points per game during the regular season (63rd) and topped the 45-point plateau three times while finishing 45th in passing as sophomore quarterback James Knapke who finished 39th in the country in passing yards. The Falcons also ranked an equally-impressive 54th in rushing (176.6 ypg) so clearly, this team can score the ball.

The Falcons are 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 games following a ATS loss and 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
Why South Alabama Will Win the Camellia Bowl
While South Alabama struggled mightily down the stretch by losing four of their final five games, they’ll be facing a Jaguars team that also struggled in a big way by closing out the season with a trio of losses. Not only that, but South Alabama could also be ‘gifted’ a win in this contest if they can force opposing QB Knapke (13 INTs) into making bad throws.
The Jaguars are 0-4 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games following a ATS win.
Who Will Win the Camellia Bowl?
South Alabama has a stellar rushing attack that ranked 49th in the nation this season, despite not having an ‘elite’ running back. I like the Jaguars’ committee approach with four players on their roster to have reached at least 379 yards and another just under 300 yards. South Alabama also has a receiver that will bear watching at all times and one that could be playing at the next level in the near future in senior Shavarez Smith (714 yds, 8 TDs).
With Bowling Green going 0-3-1 ATS in their last four bowl games and carrying a dismal losing streak with them into this matchup, I say the South Alabama Jags are a near-lock!
