Red Raiders Vs Longhorns Free PickJosh Bailey
The Texas Longhorns will look to extend their modest winning streak when they host the Texas Tech Red Raiders in an intriguing Week 13 Big 12 matchup that the Red Raiders desperately want to win to reach the six-win mark and become bowl eligible. Now, let’s find out which one of these teams is offering the best value against their college football betting odds when this game goes down live from Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Friday night at 8:00 PM ET.
Texas Tech and Texas Square off in Week 13 Chancellor’s Spurs Rivalry
Texas Tech Red Raiders (5-6) at Texas Longhorns (6-5)
When: 8:00 PM ET, Friday, November 24, 2017
Where: Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, Austin, Texas
NCAAF Odds: Texas -10
Texas Tech has lost five of their last six games and got completely dominated in their 27-3 Week 12 loss last weekend and now the Red Raiders need a big win to become bowl eligible for the fourth time in the last six years. Unfortunately, Texas Tech has lost six of their last nine road games. Still, quarterback Nic Shimonek had a really solid season by completing a blistering 68.5 percent of his passes for 3,451 yards with 28 touchdowns and just eight interceptions.
Texas has won two straight by beating up on pitiful Kansas two weeks ago and rolling to a solid 28-14 win over a very good West Virginia team last weekend, even though the Mountaineers clearly were limited after losing starting quarterback Will Grier to an injury. Texas has lost two of their last three home games coming into this affair and first-year head coach Tom Herman has been really indecisive in who his starting quarterback is after it appeared that freshman Sam Ehlinger had won the job weeks back with some phenomenal dual-threat play. Ehlinger tossed two TD passes this past weekend while sharing time with Shane Buechele once again.
Texas is the better defensive team and allows 11.3 fewer points per game than Texas Tech, but there’s a reason why a whopping 68 percent of public bettors like the Red Raiders to cover the chalk as double-digit road dogs in this one and why I believe that’s the right call. The Red Raiders can put points on the board in a hurry and Texas really isn’t much better than their conference counterparts in this affair or at least, not by the double-digit spread they’re facing. For me, this Week 13 matchup is looking a lot closer to a classic field goal finish or a Texas Tech upset than a double-digit win by the Longhorns.
Texas Tech has won two of the last four meetings and have gone 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games in the month of November. The Longhorns are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games in November and the road team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two. Back Texas Tech to cover the college football betting line!
