The Scarlet Knights Look to Tame the CougarsTheDuck
The Houston Cougars are a much better football team then their record shows, they have a tendency to stay in games and make them very interesting down the stretch. Last week they took their game against BYU to the last few seconds before a final field goal sealed their fate. Rutgers have been in the news pretty much all offseason because of their basketball program and other things around campus, but the attention as strained on the football team as they have not had the season they were expecting at 4-2. This game for them will be a real confidence booster if they are able to come away with a win.
Houston Cougars vs. Rutgers Scarlet Knights

The Houston Cougars are known for their tight offensive formations and extra use of their tight ends, more like a Patriots offense with very mobile ends that have great hands. The Cougars know that this will be a defensive battle as the Scarlet Knights pride themselves on their defensive stands as well as ability to control the possessions. I expect Houston to overload one side of the field on offense to keep the Knights guessing, playing behind the line of scrimmage will allow them to push the ball up along the side with more than one blocker ahead.
Rutgers football is one of pride and status, they are known in the ACC as very hard hitting but more than that as the team that will look to stripe the ball first, averaging almost a defensive turnover per game. They like running the ball, they use split backs in most of their sets as a decoy or a full back to get a few extra yards and they are 90% third down running team that looks to overpower their opponents front seven.
What to Expect:
Houston is -8 in this game and I understand why they are the overall better team on paper, they also have more returning starters from last season but my opinion in this game is with the Scarlet Knights as they have the better all around running game and defense that will keep them up to par throughout the four quarters.
