SEC Vs. SEC – College Football Betting Predictions

You know its going to be great weekend of college football betting when the two top 10 ranked SEC teams meet head to head.  This matchup will have implications that will be felt until the end of the season.

Throw in ranked teams Oklahoma, Notre Dame and Clemson and this weekend has games that beg to be bet on.

Here are my College Football Week 5 Predictions:

(6) LSU at (9) Georgia

What are the Odds for the Game? Georgia -3
When will it be play? Saturday 3:30 PM ET
Where? Sanford Stadium
What’s their record against the spread? The Tigers are 2-2 ATS, and the Bulldogs are 1-2 ATS.
Which TV will broadcast it? CBS

The Georgia Bulldogs were upset by Clemson in the season opener and everyone wrote them off as National Championship contenders.  Fast forward a few weeks and this team has a chance of going 2-1 against top 10 ranked teams, that is if they beat LSU.  Winning could put them back on the radar for bowl season.

The Bulldogs are only the fourth team to play three top 10 teams in the first four games of a season in the modern BCS era.  The others ended their seasons with losing records.

The Bulldogs defense is second worst in the SEC for points allowed with 29.7 per game making them only better than Texas A&M. They allowed 38 points against from Clemson, 30 from South Carolina and 21 from North Texas.

LSU is 2-5 ATS in its last 7 games, but this is the first time this season they are underdogs. Georgia is 11-1 SU in its last 12 games at home, only losing to Alabama a year ago.

What are the Recent Betting Trends for LSU and Georgia?

  • LSU is 2-5 ATS in its last 7 games
  • LSU is 7-1 SU in its last 8 games
  • The total has gone OVER in 4 of LSU’s last 5 games
  • LSU is 9-1 SU in its last 10 games on the road
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of LSU’s last 5 games on the road
  • The total has gone OVER in 5 of LSU’s last 6 games when playing Georgia
  • Georgia is 14-3 SU in its last 17 games
  • The total has gone OVER in 5 of Georgia’s last 5 games
  • Georgia is 11-1 SU in its last 12 games at home
  • The total has gone OVER in 4 of Georgia’s last 5 games at home
  • The total has gone OVER in 5 of Georgia’s last 6 games when playing LSU

College Football Betting Prediction:: Georgia -3.

(14) Oklahoma at (22) Notre Dame

What are the Odds for the Game? Oklahoma -3.5
When will it be play? Saturday 3:30 PM ET
Where? Notre Dame Stadium
What’s their record against the spread? The Sooners are 2-1-1 ATS, and the Irish are 0-3-1 ATS.
Which TV will broadcast it? NBC

Notre Dame hasn’t looked this good in years.  In fact Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly is daring the opposition this weekend to play man-to-man defense against his offense this weekend. He believes he has the weapons both under center and in the receiving game to create an advantage.

This hasn’t phased Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops, who is preparing to have his players defend plenty of opposing QB Tommy Rees pass attempts as his No. 14 Sooners visit the 22nd-ranked Fighting Irish on Saturday.

History suggests Oklahoma doesn’t stand to win.  They are 1-9 all-time against the Irish.  The lone victory came in 1956.  Even with all of that the college football odds have the Sooners as 3.5 point favorites.

Notre Dame gave up a regular-season worst 379 yards – 364 through the air – against Oklahoma on Oct. 27, but still came away with a 30-13 road victory on its way to the BCS title game.

The Sooners are averaging 490.3 yards this season, and they’re hoping QB Blake Bell can stay hot after he went 27 of 37 for 413 yards and four touchdowns in his first career start, a 51-20 victory over Tulsa on Sept. 14.

"They’re going to put it up in every game a good number of times," Stoops said. "(Rees) throws an excellent ball, and they have confidence in their receivers going up and getting it. That’s definitely something we’re aware of and something we need to be able to defend."

Oklahoma defense allows a paltry 9.0 points a game, 5th best in college football.  The Irish will be the first real challenge for the Sooners as they have not faced a ranked team yet this season.

What are the Recent Betting Trends for Oklahoma and Notre Dame?

  • Oklahoma is 8-1 SU in its last 9 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Oklahoma’s last 5 games
  • Oklahoma is 5-0 SU in its last 5 games on the road
  • Notre Dame is 0-4-1 ATS in its last 5 games
  • Notre Dame is 15-2 SU in its last 17 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 12 of Notre Dame’s last 16 games
  • Notre Dame is 1-5-1 ATS in its last 7 games at home
  • Notre Dame is 11-1 SU in its last 12 games at home
  • The total has gone UNDER in 9 of Notre Dame’s last 11 games at home

College Football Betting Prediction:: Oklahoma -3.

Wake Forest at (3) Clemson

What are the Odds for the Game? Clemson -29
When will it be play? Saturday 3:30 PM ET
Where? Memorial Stadium
What’s their record against the spread? The Demon Deacons are 1-3 ATS, and Tigers are 1-2 ATS.
Which TV will broadcast it? ESPN U.

Clemson QB Tajh Boyd looks to build consistency on his offense as they meet Wake Forest this weekend. We haven’t seen much of the high-flying juggernaut many expected the third-ranked Tigers to be this fall.

Wake Forest saw firsthand what Clemson and Heisman Trophy-contending quarterback Tajh Boyd were capable of last season.

Boyd showed himself as a starting QB against Georgia in week one throwing three TDs passes, but he has failed to deliver the next week against South Carolina State. Last week the Tigers barely got out with a W against North Carolina State. Boyd ended with three touchdowns but they were ugly scores.

Wake Forest is also searching for offensive consistency after early defeats to Boston College and Louisiana-Monroe, but got a big boost last Saturday with a 25-11 victory at Army.

Wake Forest has allowed 15.8 points per game after 4 weeks.

Clemson has won seven of the last 10 games in the head-to-head series and has covered the spread three of thelast four games. However, the biggest point spread in those games was only 16.5.  This weekend it will be 29.

What are the Recent Betting Trends for Wake Forest and Clemson?

  • Wake Forest is 1-6 ATS in its last 7 games
  • Wake Forest is 2-5 SU in its last 7 games
  • The total has gone UNDER in 10 of Wake Forest’s last 11 games
  • Wake Forest is 2-8 SU in its last 10 games on the road
  • The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Wake Forest’s last 5 games on the road
  • The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Wake Forest’s last 5 games when playing Clemson
  • Wake Forest is 1-6 SU in its last 7 games when playing Clemson
  • Wake Forest is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games when playing Clemson
  • Wake Forest is 2-3-1 ATS in its last 6 games when playing on the road against Clemson
  • Wake Forest is 0-5 SU in its last 5 games when playing on the road against Clemson
  • Clemson is 2-4 ATS in its last 6 games
  • Clemson is 11-1 SU in its last 12 games
  • Clemson is 8-1 SU in its last 9 games at home

College Football Betting Prediction: Clemson -29.
