Florida Hosts FSU in Week 13 Rivalry With Both Teams 2017 Seasons Gone Awry
Even though both of their 2017 seasons have gone completely awry, the Florida Gators will host the Florida State Seminoles in the 62nd annual Sunshine Showdown with both looking to get a small measure of satisfaction by nabbing the annual battle for the coveted Florida Cup.
The Week 13 college football odds favor FSU by 5-points over Florida. The over/under is 44.
Florida State Seminoles Vs Florida Gators Odds & Expert Pick
Florida State Seminoles (4-6) at Florida Gators (4-6)
When: Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 12:00 PM ET
Where: Ben Hill Griffin Stadium
Odds: Florida State -5
The Florida State Seminoles beat overmatched Delaware State 77-6 destruction on Saturday to nab their second win in three weeks as quarterback James Blackman threw for 179 yards and two touchdowns while running back Ryan Green rushed seven times for 96 yards and a pair of additional scores. Still, the Seminoles have lost three of five and will look to nail down a much better win this coming weekend.
The Florida Gators managed to snap a five-game skid by routing Alabama-Birmingham 36-7 this past weekend as quarterback Feleipe Franks passed for 152 yards and two touchdowns while running back Lamical Perine rushed for 86 yards and another score in the convincing win.
While both of these teams got wins this past weekend, the fact of the matter is that there’s a reason why Florida State is a 5-point favorite despite being on the road in this contest and it’s because the Florida Gators are an even bigger mess than their longtime rivals coming into this contest.
Florida State saw its season go down the drain with the loss of gifted quarterback Deondre Francois in their regular season opener because backup James Blackman clearly isn’t ready to be a starter, maybe ever. However, Florida both, couldn’t score – or stop the opposition during their ugly five0game losing streak and things got so bad that head coach Jim McElwain pretty much quit in the face of nasty death threats and a lack of support from Florida’s athletic regime, only it’s been portrayed as a mutual ‘parting of ways.’ Ironically, McElwain is the only coach in SEC history to win division titles in his first two seasons. Now, playing under interim head coach Randy Shannon, the former head coach at Miami, the Gators are hoping to finish on a positive note.
Unfortunately, I don’t see it happening which is why I say go with the 67 percent of public bettors that like the Seminoles to win and cover the chalk as nearly touchdown road dogs. Florida State is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 non-conference games while Florida is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games against teams from the ACC. Simply put, take the lesser of two evils in this affair!
Pick: Florida State -5
