Why Bet On Southern Cover The 54-point Spread vs #6 Georgia
Good thing Southern can score in a hurry!
Southern has the type of offense that can score in a hurry. The Jaguars are 2 and 1 on the season because they have a pretty good quarterback in Austin Howard. Versus Jackson State, in a 50 to 31 Southern victory, Howard completed 21 of 32 for 395 yards. He threw a touchdown and a pick.

Howard is going to have to have a monster game versus Georgia’s defense if Southern hopes to pull off one of the biggest upsets in college football history. Georgia’s defense can lose focus at times. If Southern hopes to pull off the upset, they’re going to have to take advantage of every Georgia mistake on D. This requires Howard to be even better versus Georgia than he was versus Jackson State.
Without Howard playing the perfect game, the chances of Southern keeping this game close is slim to none. Southern lost 15 to 62 to Louisiana Tech earlier in the season. Facing a team like Georgia and asking for a victory might be asking a bit too much.
Why Bet On #6 Georgia To Cover The 54-point Spread vs Southern
All Chubb all the time.
Georgia’s offense should have no trouble overwhelming the Southern Jaguars this Saturday. Led by running back Nick Chubb, the offense at Georgia averages 44.7 points per game. Georgia, mainly because of Chubb, rushes for 256.7 yards per game. The Bulldogs pass for 221 yards per game.

Georgia manhandled South Carolina in their last battle. The Bulldogs totaled 576 yards while beating South Carolina 52 to 20. Chubb rushed for 159 yards from 22 carries. Chubb also scored 2 touchdowns. QB Greyson Lambert passed for 330 yards and 3 touchdowns. Georgia showed a different level of offensive prowess in the game against South Carolina.
The problem that Southern has in this game is that they are horribly outmatched in every position. Southern’s defense gives up a lot of yards and points as it is. Louisiana Tech’s Jeff Driskel threw for 274 yards and 4 touchdown passes against Southern. Five different receivers caught touchdown passes against Southern in that loss. Southern’s defense gave up 24 points in the first quarter and 28 points in the second quarter.
Although it’s nice to think of David taking on and beating Goliath, Southern has absolutely no shot of that happening on Saturday. Georgia and Chubb should steamroll the Jaguars from their first drive. I am picking Georgia to win and cover the colossal 54-point spread as favorites. My final score prediction is Georgia 70, Southern 10.
