Why Bet the Syracuse Orange Spread at +21.5
The best reason to bet on Syracuse is that they’re getting three touchdowns against a LSU team that clearly has flaws. The Orange were impressive in their 41-17 victory beatdown of Central Michigan in Week 3 as quarterback Eric Dungey completed 15 of 19 passes for 279 yards with two touchdowns and one interception while rushing 11 times for 105 yards and an additional score. Running back Moe Neal added 81 rushing yards on just five carries while wide receiver Steve Ishmael hauled in eight passes for 139 yards. Syracuse coach Dino Babers said his team will be ready to take on the Tigers this coming weekend.
“I’m looking forward to going down there and hitting that tiger with that microphone,” Babers said, referring to the practice of LSU cheerleaders getting the caged Mike the Tiger to roar on cue. “I think everyone else is too. This team is ready. We understand what the schedule is, and we’re ready to play it."
Why Bet the LSU Tigers Spread at -21.5
The best reason to bet on LSU is that they got embarrassed in their last contest and will likely come out with a different mindset in this contest. The Tigers got smacked around from beginning to end in their stunning 37-7 Week 3 loss to Mississippi State as quarterback Danny Etling looked awful in completing just 13 of 29 passes for 137 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. Gifted running back Derrius Guice rushed for a team-high 76 yards on 15 carries while fellow back Darrel Williams rushed five times for 29 yards and LSU’s only score of the game. Guice will miss this Week 4 matchup with an undisclosed injury.
“Mississippi State played as good as they can play, and we played as bad as we can play,” LSU coach Ed Orgeron said following his team’s loss. “We didn’t prepare (the players) as well as we should. I think this is going to be a turning point. It better be.”
Syracuase Vs LSU ATS Pick
There’s a reason why 58 percent of public bettors already like the Syracuse Orange to cover the spread at the very least and it’s because LSU clearly isn’t much better than their visiting opponents this coming weekend and has serious problems trying to throw the ball behind the mediocre Danny Etling.
While LSU has gone 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 non-conference games and 3-1-1 in their last 5 games overall, Syracuse is a perfect 4-0 ATS in their last four games against teams from the SEC. More importantly, the Orange have a spread offense that can and will put some points on the board to easily cover the spread against LSU, if not beat the Tigers outright!
