Bet on Texas A&M Because…

Texas A&M’s defense has played well enough to help its offense keep pace with Alabama’s offense. On the surface, A&M’s D doesn’t appear to be well-suited to battle Alabama. The Aggies allow 437.5 total yards per game. But the defensive line is actually one of the better units in the nation. Although Texas A&M has played high-scoring teams this season like UCLA, Auburn, Arkansas and Tennessee, the Aggies allow less than 20 points per game on average.

Bet on Alabama Because…

Alabama is the type of team that steps it up when it has to. The Crimson Tide beat Ole Miss on the road 48 to 43 earlier this season. Then, on the road against Arkansas as a -14.5 favorite, Alabama decimated the Razorbacks 49 to 30. A week later in Knoxville, Tennessee, Alabama destroyed the Volunteers 49 to 10 as a -14 road favorite.

Expert Pick & Final Score Prediction

Now that Alabama gets an SEC rival at home, it’s hard to see how they don’t cover the spread, right?  I’m not so sure. There is something different about this Texas A&M team.
For starters, the Aggies are playing much better defense than they have in years. The defensive line has gotten to more than a couple of quarterbacks this season. Also, the play of Texas A&M QB Trevor Knight has been stellar.

Knight played at Oklahoma for a while. He understands big time college football pressure. I don’t think that Texas A&M wins the game outright. But I do believe that they keep it closer than 18.5 points.

My final score prediction is Alabama 38, Texas A&M 21.
