Upset Picks College Football Week 9

If you like making college football picks on underdog teams that have a chance to pull off the upset against their favored opponents and you’re looking to find some Week 9 dogs that are offering the kind ‘upset value’ you’re looking for, then look no further.

I’ve got a trio of Week 9 dogs that are simply ‘barking’ as they get set to take on their favored conference rivals this coming weekend With that said, let’s get to it.

Upset Picks College Football Week 9

Texas Longhorns (3-4) at Baylor Bears (0-7)
When: Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 12:00 PM ET
Where: McLane Stadium, Waco, Texas
Odds: Texas -9

Analysis: Texas is playing decent football in Year 1 of the Tom Herman era this season and the Longhorns nearly pulled off the upset over No. 11 Oklahoma State this past weekend before falling 13-10 in overtime. However, Baylor also has a really good head coach in first-year leader Matt Rhule and despite their 0-7 record coming into this contest, the Bears are clearly playing much better football now than they were early on. Baylor nearly pulled off its own upset of No. 22 West Virginia by scoring 23 unanswered points in the fourth quarter before coming up just short in their crushing 38-36 home loss.

I really like the upset value that Baylor is offering as a 9-point home underdog against Texas seeing as how they’ve gone 4-1 ATS in their last five conference games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven meetings against Texas. Don’t be fooled by their winless record, Baylor is getting better and if you don’t know Rhule is just as good of a head coach as Tom Herman even if the latter gets more national media attention for his work at Houston than Rhule does despite putting Temple on the national map the last two years.

Week 9 Upset Pick: Baylor +9

Rutgers Scarlet Knights (3-4) at Michigan Wolverines (5-2)
When: Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 12:00 PM ET
Where: Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor, Michigan
Odds: Michigan -24

Analysis: Michigan might be playing at home in this Week 9 Big Ten battle, but if you’ve seen Jim Harbaugh’s squad this season, then you know they’re extremely offensively-challenged. Rutgers has looked really good in beating Illinois 35-24 two weeks ago and Purdue, 14-12 this past weekend, which is why a compelling 62 percent of public bettors are already backing the Scarlet Knights to cover the spread as insane 24-point road dogs.

Rutgers is 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a winning record and Michigan simply doesn’t have enough firepower on the offensive side of the ball to make a 25-point win stand up. Back the Scarlet Knights to easily cover the chalk and don;t be surprised if they push Michigan for the outright win.

Week 9 Upset Pick: Rutgers +24

No. 5 Wisconsin Badgers (7-0) at Illinois Fighting Illini’
When: Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 12:00 PM ET
Where: Memorial Stadium, Champaign, Illinois
Odds: Wisconsin -26

Analysis: I’m a huge believe in fifth-ranked Wisconsin as both, a legitimate Big Ten title candidate and four-team College Football Playoff hopeful, but I’m also a Lovie Smith backer and I believe the defensive-minded Illinois head coach is going to find a way to keep the final score respectable against the clearly superior Badgers. Despite dropping five straight coming into this matchup, the Fighting Illini’ looked pretty competitive in their 24-17 road loss to Minnesota this past weekend. Sure, Illinois has posted some awful ATS numbers, but Wisconsin isn’t exactly an offensive juggernaut and the Badgers are 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games following an ATS win. Pride, if nothing else, will help Illinois cover the spread in this one.

Week 9 Upset Pick: Illinois +26
