Why Bet The Utah State Aggies To Beat The Badgers
Utah State will attempt to rebound from miserable performances on offense last season, as the team posted a 1-7 record in the Mountain West Conference and a 3-9 overall mark. Futhermore, the Aggies are 9-16 in the last two seasons. Fifth year head coach Matt Wells is not officially on the hot seat, but a slow start and things will change fast.
“Camp Randall Stadium is a tremendous atmosphere, so it will be a major test for our guys and one that we’re looking forward to,” Wells said.
In 2016, Utah State averaged a paltry 23.9 points per game. To remidy the situation the Aggies’ braintrust hired new offensive coordinator David Yost to boost their scoring. Yost brings with him the Oregon Ducks quick draw offense.
Why Bet The Wisconsin Badgers To Beat The Aggies
Wisconsin struggled with their passing game a year ago, but all is about to change in 2017. Quarterback Alex Hornibrook is has promise and is surrounded by real talent starting with All-American tight end Troy Fumagalli who will see a lot of balls going his way.
Last season, Hornibrook split time last year with then-senior Bart Houston. Even with the split time, Hornibrook completed 108 of 181 passes for 1,262 yards, with nine touchdowns and seven interceptions. A 6-foot-4, 215-pounder, Hornibrook participated in George Whitfield’s QB camp in San Diego in the offseason, and he has been the undisputed starter since the beginning of spring camp.
Complimenting the passing offense will be a running back trio of Bradrick Shaw, Chris James, and Taiwan Deal. They all will try to replace Corey Clement who recorded over 1300-rushing yards last season. Stopping Wisconsin’s run game is usually the top priority for opponents.
On defense, the Badgers allowed 15.6 points per game last season.
If You Still Can’t Decide Who To Bet On:
- Aggies are 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 Friday games.
- Aggies are 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 games as an underdog of 10.5 or greater.
- Badgers are 11-4-1 ATS in their last 16 games overall.
- Badgers are 4-1 ATS in their last five games in September.
Expert ATS Pick & Final Score Prediction
Wisconsin is 14-0 straight up but only 7-7 against the spread over the last five years against non-Power 5 outfits. Utah State, meanwhile, is 0-8 SU and 2-5-1 ATS over that same span against Power 5 opponents.
My final score prediction is Wisconsin 40, Utah State 13.
