Why Bet The Utah Utes To Beat The Trojans

Dynamic sophomore QB Tyler Huntley is the only reason the Utes have a shot in this game. Huntley didn’t play against Stanford last week due to a shoulder injury, and the offense was stalled. Senior QB Troy Williams threw for 238 passing yards and two picks in relief.

Hunley is a game-time decision this week. He has thrown five touchdown passes and one interception in the last two outings. He has also rushed for three rushing scores this season. If Huntley ultimately can’t go, then Williams is set for his second start of the season.

The Utes will have to lean on its defensive line that allows 3.4 yards per carry and 108.8 rushing yards per game, ranking No. 20 nationally against the run. Utah has generated 14 turnovers.

“Looking at Utah’s defensive front: No. 1, they’re huge,” USC coach Clay Helton said with a laugh. “They’re 300 (pounds) across the board, so really terrific size.”

Why Bet The Utah Utes To Beat The Trojans

USC beat the struggling Oregon State Beavers last week. The emergence of freshman Tyler Vaughns, who had five receptions for 68 yards, helped Sam Darnold to his best performance of the season.

Hoever the Utes are more of a challenge after USC sustained a number of injuries along the offensive line in recent weeks.

This offensive line will have to protect Darnold, who hasn’t posted Heisman-like numbers yet this season. He is 136 of 210 for 1,705 yards and 12 touchdowns. The problem arises on his interception count which is at 9.

Darnold completed 23 of 35 passes for 316 yards last week. He threw for three touchdowns and one interception. Darnold is completing 64.8% of his passes.

If You Still Can’t Decide Who To Bet On

  • Utes are 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 conference games.
  • Utes are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games.
  • Trojans are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games in October.
  • Trojans are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.

Utah Vs. USC Week 7 Betting Analysis

The Trojans are unbeaten in their last five games at home. They have also won four of their previous six meetings against Utah. With Tyler Huntley either lingering an injury or out for good, Utah will struggle to keep Sam Darnold from scoring. Take USC to win and cover this game.
